Overview

An ancient city. An evil emperor. A forbidden love that will never die. Ancient Rome--a city ruled by the bloodthirsty Emperor Nero; a place of decadence and debauchery, of hedonistic pleasures and deadly delights. But for two young slaves, Tyberius and Mateus, it is a place they must escape. For every night under cover of darkness they risk death and torture all for the sake of their forbidden love. But Destiny has other plans for these star-crossed lovers. A secret sect, a brotherhood of dark and powerful creatures, dwells in the catacombs beneath the city. They look like Romans. They pass through the shadows, working as slaves, mingling with the people of Rome. But they have a higher purpose--and they have a plan. They will weave their threads throughout history, until they make history--or unravel it entirely. These creatures call themselves--Vampire. Excerpt: At the far end of the pool chamber, in a dark corner forested by mossy stone columns, nobody noticed the air grate--rusted and decayed and set low into the rock wall--slowly move. Tyberius, unseen in this shadowy distant corner, managed to squeeze his muscular frame through the narrow opening in the foot of the wall. Sitting by the emperor's daybed, Mateus gently strummed and plucked the strings of his harp, unaware that at the same time he was plucking the strings of Tyberius' heart. But not just Tyberius. The Emperor as well. Mateus sang a song of a nightingale. In the shadows behind the column, Tyberius felt his yearning, aching heart pound in his chest. As he sneaked a look past the column to the far side of the pool, his heart beat even harder--this time with hatred and jealousy--at the sight of Nero now touching his handsome, innocent Mateus. The Emperor stroked Mateus' jawline. He pushed the blond hair out of Mateus' eyes. He reached inside his tunic and fondled his chest, his nipples. He thumbed those full, beautiful lips, knowing well there was nothing the song-slave could do to stop him. "Such an exquisite song. Such a heavenly voice. You must let me play with you."
