    From a 5-year Rome resident

I ran a 3-month sabbatical program for American priests in Rome, and was always looking for the 'complete' guide: when the Eyewitness Guide came out in 1993, it was by far head and shoulders above everythng out there. The section-of-town maps -- featuring sketches of the main buildings/fountains/etc. of a given area -- are extraordinary. My art teacher, a finnicky nun from England, loved the presentations of pictures, statues, churhces, squares, and fountains. A good pre-arrival study, a handy on-the-run guide, a wonderful collection of souvenirs, all in one cover.

    I loved this book

The Eyewitness Travel Guides do such a wonderful job of not only providing wonderfully illustrated maps and information, they also put everything into a cultural and historical context, really adding to your travel experience. I am going to Spain next so I am getting ready to buy the Eyewitness Guide for Barcelona and Madrid!

    Put more pictures

Well i think that the book was lovely but it needs more pictures that children can relate to and then maybe we can get 5 stars.
