• Romulus and Remus were Rome's twin founders. Their grandfather was Numitor a king of Alba Longa. Before their conception, Numitor's brother Amulius killed his brother and forced Numitor’s wife, Rhea, to become a Vestal Virgin. However, Rhea conceived Romulus and Remus by the god Mars. When Romulus and Remus were born, Amulius left them to die but a she-wolf found them and raised them. Once shepherd and his wife found the twins and adopted them. When told their true identities, the twins killed Amulius and decided to found a new city - Rome.
