Overview

Ron Paul Speaks presents hundreds of fascinating quotes from America’s favorite dark horse presidential candidate. Congressman Ron Paul provides supporters and others with insight into his beliefs, expressing what he stands for on a wide range of issues, and what he would offer America were he to end up in the White House sooner or later. Covering all sorts of controversial topics—from abortion, the Constitution, education, gas prices, health care, and the stock market to terrorism and the war in Iraq—Ron Paul Speaks brings us the real words of the man famous for advocating a return to the founding fathers’ original intent: limited government, states’ rights, personal liberty, low taxation, and low spending. It includes an introduction by Ron Paul himself, the Texas congressman and onetime obstetrician who became the darling of millions of Americans young and old who feel that mainstream politics has left them out in the cold. “We should not trick ourselves into believing that we can pick and choose which part of the Bill of Rights we support.”—Ron Paul

On the Media: Politics as usual is aided by the complicity of the media. Economic ignorance, bleeding heart emotionalism, and populist passion pervade our major networks and cable channels. This is especially noticeable when the establishment seeks to unify the people behind an illegal, unwise war. The propaganda is well-coordinated by the media/government/military/industrial complex. This collusion is worse than when state-owned media do the same thing. In countries where everyone knows the media produces government propaganda, people remain wary of what they hear. In the United States the media are considered free and independent, thus the propaganda is accepted with less questioning. On War: Policy changes in wartime are difficult, for it is almost impossible for the administration to change course since so much emotional energy has been invested in the effort. That's why Eisenhower ended the Korean War, and not Truman. That's why Nixon ended the Vietnam War, and not LBJ. Even in the case of Vietnam the end was too slow and costly, as more than 30,000 military deaths came after Nixon's election in 1968. It makes a lot more sense to avoid unnecessary wars than to overcome the politics involved in stopping them once started. I personally am convinced that many of our wars could be prevented by paying stricter attention to the method whereby our troops are committed to battle. I also am convinced that when Congress does not declare war, victory is unlikely.

A compilation of many of Dr Pauls actual words from speeches, press releases, an his 'straight talk'. A sort of progenitor of his latest book. Great as a reference on his True Constitutional Conservatism.
