When Rod’s ill-advised marriage falls apart, he finds himself living on his own for the first time—like a little boy, whose mother leaves one day and never returns home. Roomies is a black comedy; it explores the seedier side of life, taking the reader on a tour of drinking, drugs, bars, bikers, and books. The cast of characters is hilarious and ribald, including surreptitious strippers; a harried magazine editor; nymphomaniac twin sisters; and a motley bunch of dopers, drug dealers, and thieves. Rod realizes that if he is ever to be happy, he must escape the clutches of a series of raucous roommates ... and in the end, will he find redemption in his family or will his tale end in tragedy?

Must read - can't put it down!!

Very rarely do you stumble upon a new author with such a fresh style, and yet seems like a seasoned veteran. I read this book first to last page in 2 days, and when I wasn't reading it, I couldn't stop thinking about the characters and where the story was going next. Always an excellent sign in a book. It's an 'easy read' only in the sense that he writes so fluidly, you don't even realize it when the emotion and heart of the story are so deeply put center stage. This book draws you in from the first page, and never disappoints to the last punctuation. The ending is fantastic and doesn't leave you with that vague feeling of the writer losing interest. Recommended for anyone who loves to read about people, life, love and all the dirty rest.
