Overview

“I love tough guys, even when they're gals, and Glock-toting, fast-thinking, wise-cracking DEA agent Kay Hamilton is one of the toughest going. She looks to be a source of major amusement as M. A. Lawson spins out this new series over the next decade or so.”—Stephen Hunter, author of the best-selling The Third Bullet, I, Sniper and others.

Bold, brash, and beautiful, Kay Hamilton is not your average DEA agent—she’s as infuriating as she is irresistible. Having recently been transferred to San Diego after a case in Miami brought her more notoriety than medals, Kay once again finds herself embroiled in an international bust. Tito Olivera, younger brother of drug czar Caesar Olivera, is within her grasp. If she takes down Tito, Kay is positive that Caesar will follow—and when Caesar falls, so does the largest and most vicious cartel in Mexico. But when a mysterious stranger shows up on her doorstep, all of Kay’s carefully laid plans are thrown out the window. The Olivera case suddenly becomes far more personal—not to mention dangerous—and Kay must be willing to sacrifice everything to get her man.

Rosarito Beach is an explosive, action-packed thriller that will have readers on the edge of their seats until the final moments of the epic conclusion.

What People Are Saying

From the Publisher
“Grabs you by the throat….the writing’s lyrical, the plot is breathtaking, and the characters, the good ones and bad, are utterly compelling.”—New York Times bestselling author Jeffery Deaver

“I love tough guys, even when they're gals, and Glock-toting, fast-thinking, wise-cracking DEA agent Kay Hamilton is one of the toughest going. ”—Stephen Hunter, author of the best-selling The Third BulletI, Sniper and others.

“Lawson has written a great start to a promising new series, with a gripping story line and a gutsy, likable heroine. Readers who enjoy fast-paced thrillers and detective novels with a female protagonist who’s fully developed, vulnerable, and intriguing will gobble this one up and ask for more.”—Library Journal, Starred review

“With this new character and proposed series, Lawson shows his breadth of talent.  I will read anything he writes – his prose is so smooth, his plotting so engaging and his pacing near perfect.”—George Easter, Deadly Pleasures Magazine

“[A] novel that goes beyond edgy to explosive and introduces a character whose future exploits promise further excitement.”—Richmond Times-Dispatch

“Mike “M.A.” Lawson hits his stride in a big way with Rosarito Beach, featuring the impressive debut of DEA agent Kay Hamilton. This is T. Jefferson Parker’s brilliant Charlie Hood series on steroids with just enough Elmore Leonard (Riding the Rap) thrown in for good measure. Flat-out great.”—Jon Land, Providence Journal

“A highly promising debut.”—Adam Woog, Seattle Times

“It’s no surprise if this new series hooks you…. Kay impresses both by her recognition of the reality of her job and her courage in trying anyway.... [Lawson’s] trademark caustic humor and dialogue zing on almost every page.”—Michele Ross, Cleveland Plain Dealer

ROSARITO BEACH is a thriller with a cast of colorful characters and as much heart as action. Lawson's books have long been favorites, but I absolutely loved Kay Hamilton and this book! Her fast-paced adventures kept me turning pages late into the night. Can't wait until the next installment.

    A Really must read.............

Good plot, great characters A can't put down book. All characters in Mike Lawson's books are great ....read like real people. Try his Joe Demarco books also. Kay Hamilton is a female version of Joe .. a no nonsense person, but a real person.
Really hated to finish it...........then what!

    Rosarito Beach by M.A. Lawson

This is a fast paced page turner that is a very easy and enjoyable read. The larger than life law enforcement officer is a female who is willing to do anything to get her man. The plot has everything: Mexican cartels, a long lost daughter, a mother who will go to the ends of the earth to save her child, wild law breaking by the law enforcers, deceptive chess playing by the good and evil at its best, and oh yea, and the bad guys not getting out of the story in one piece.

Awful and a new first name makes it no better than the old jack

The publisher reviews were enough to put anyone off. Am ready to return to those classics cozy or not and read father brown and holmes and wentworth miss silver and seldom a mafia or columbian drug lord even on nook there are still clever mystery combos that have humor and avoid grafic sex and are an adult read not even a borrow

    Couldn't put it down

This was my first e-book and it was well worth the switch. I really liked this book. When I decided to go e-book, I also decided to read new authors. Lawson is good. Try this one out!

This book will capture your attention from page 1

Although the book is of the action-thriller type (suspend critical thinking at the door), the plot is not so implausible as to be laughable, and provides great entertainment for those needing escape from the real world for a few days. The author created some very likeable protagonists and the bad guys were properly frightening. I would love to see another book featuring Kay Hamilton.
I liked this book so much I immediately bought the first book in the author's Joe DeMarco series.
