    Mystery Romance

This is a great introduction to the Rose Gardener mystery series and a great value. Although there is mystery, what I love most about the series is the character development, especially Rose, who is discovering both her past and herself while striving to overcome her abusive conservative Southern mother who withheld love, an overprotective sister, and being cursed with occassional foresight where she blurts out odd comments to total strangers. The interactions, family relationships, and development based on gradually revealed motivations make these characters so much more interesting than a standard mystery romance, and both the mystery and romantic relationships between the two novels have enough plot twists and turns to make this a fun read. I'm making my own lists, and adding these to my favorites. :-)

    Great introductory set

This is a great introductory set to the life and times of Rose Gardner. I found myself rooting for Rose half way through the first book and unable to wait to see what mess she'd find herself knee deep in during the next two. These books are very well written and have enjoyable plots and characters.

It says three books and a novella.  Why do I only see two books?

    Two books

The first line of the blurb says it is only two books, but the photo shows more.

    Unusual but great

Well, this was an unusual romantic intrigue series but I really liked it. I laughed through the fresh dialogs and all the mess that surrounds the heroine. The best and the worst of Southern charm through the life of a young woman that is finally able to be herself and have the life she chooses. I would have liked the love scenes to be a little more descriptive though, as this was a very important part of the heroine's awakening. Still, these two books were really fun to read and I look forward to the third in the series.

    Delightful

Rose's antics are very entertaining. The ordeals of her childhood and her ability to overcome them were inspiring. An overall enjoyable series.

    Intriguing New Heroine

I like this character, who rises up from a formidable upbringing, accepts her flaws and finds her own path in life.
I also appreciate a bit of romance, that doesn't take center stage and get bogged down in explicit, never-ending detail, as well as a bit of humor.
I would classify this as a "can't put the book down" cozy mystery.
    A very enjoyable read.

    Thoroughly enjoyable

The Rose Gardner character is absolutely loveable. She is a gentle, mild-mannered young woman who discovers she can be a forceful, decisive adult. This series is well written and moves the story right along, keeping suspense high. Having never read any of Denise Grover Swank's novels before this purchase, I was very pleasantly surprised and look forward to reading more of this author's books.

    Fun read

I enjoyed most of the books. The story lines and characters were interesting. The authors segues into dream mode was totally without any meaning to the books. I would say to leave that out of future books. Also, one other item that gave me a chuckle, is trying to find out how one gets hit on the left right side of the face. This was in the fourth book.
Keep writing, as you certainly have a talent for it and I will continue to read your books.
