Overview

Nothing ruins a peaceful morning walk like finding a blood-spattered body. And Daisy Greene and Rose Forrest, sisters and co-owners of Champagne Taste, really need a peaceful morning walk. They have enough on their minds already. Christmas is right around the corner, business is brisk, and their little antiques district of Old Towne is being plagued with petty thievery and vandalism. Murder is just not in the game plan.

And if finding bodies lying around walking trails isn't enough to destroy a perfectly good day, Daisy's cheating ex-husband, state trooper Bill Greene, shows up to investigate the murder. Nosy by nature anyway, Daisy takes Bill’s presence as a challenge to find the murderer.

When Daisy and Rose start asking questions things get hairier. Someone begins stalking them. Daisy receives threatening letters and is brutally attacked.

Their determination grows when clues lead to a missing priceless diamond and the man Daisy is dating becomes the next victim. With the help of their eccentric mother, Angela, and their hormonally-exuberant dog, Malcolm, they follow the clues to catch a killer.

Editorial Reviews

Maureen D. F.
Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed Roses and Daisies and Death, Oh My.
Several years ago I helped a friend with her antique shop on Howard Ave in Kensington, MD. Penny captured the quirks and charms of many on the street. I tried to peer into each character to see if anyone I knew was her inspiration.
Both Rose and Daisy were a pleasure to meet. Of course, azaleas, rockfish, crabs and a cruise on the Chesapeake were like sprinkles of Old Bay.

Meet the Author

On a dare from her husband after hearing her complain for the umpteenth time that she could write a better story than the one she was reading, Penny Clover Petersen sat down to write her first mystery novel. The result is Roses and Daisies and Death, Oh My!, a mystery set in a small Washington DC suburb featuring sisters Daisy Greene and Rose Forrest. Penny is a married mother and grandmother who has written for years as a hobby. She lives in a suburb of Washington DC, "owns" three feral cats, enjoys cocktails with her sisters, but has never solved a mystery. Highly Recommended

Great job, Penny Clover. I loved this book. The characters were so real. Good women in real life situations but at the same time entertaining. Plus it was a good mystery. And I can't go without mentioning at times it was just laugh out loud funny. I enjoyed your line regarding Inspecter Lindley. The sister's & their mother, Angela could give Stephanie Plum & her family a run for their money. Just keep them on the path they are on without getting totally outrageous. Hoping this is just the 1st book in a new & exciting series.

I recommend it if you do not need gore and kinky sex to be entertained in a mystery.

This was an enjoyable read if you want a light predictably moving story. Individuals who are 40+ will enjoy it. I would read another book by her for a relaxing afternoon or two. Not recommended for book club discussion.

    Okay

Not a bad story but not excellent either. Really needs to be re-edited for sentence structure and spelling.

Promising but dialogue is a chore

I found the dialogue to be quite a chore to read through, not to mention the abrupt segues from one scene to the next. People in real life simply don't speak this way to each other and the stilted quality of their interaction made me force myself to keep reading. The author definitely has promise, though. I suggest she read her scenes aloud.
