Despite some poor reviews by some, I believe this program could be worth it if you are dedicated. First of all, guaranteed you will learn spanish if you use this program daily. Also your spanish accent will be perfected by using this program.
The program comes with many resources for learning spanish. The computer program is excellent and fun and comes with games and reading material. The CDs are great for listening to in the car and really help to practice. Last, the ipod/iphone app. If you don't have an ipod touch or an iphone get one. Download the Rosetta Stone Mobile Companion from the iTunes store. You put in your Rosetta Stone user name and password and can download the Rosetta Stone lessons anywhere with a WiFi connection or anywhere if you have an iphone all though i would not recommend (data cost). This app is awesome and is almost just like the computer program but it is fast paced for reviewing what you have learned previously.
If you are not going to spend at least 30 minutes a day at the computer and you don't use the other resources that they provide and you won't be strongly dedicated then don't bother. I think most people who give this program a bad rating just aren't dedicated enough. If you are strongly dedicated keep reading.
Tips for Learning Spanish:
Learning Spanish is very complex and difficult. Don't expect to use this program and be speaking fluently after using it for 1 month. Although you will have learned and incredible amount after 1 month there is an incredible amount to be learned. Get your self a dictionary or better yet a translator put a translator widget on your desktop it will help. Buy Sparknotes Study Cards Spanish Vocabulary (1000 Card). These study cards are awesome and helped me huge. While watching TV you can practice with these; all day practice with these. The #1 key if you want to learn Spanish is dedication. There is no get rich quick scheme in learning Spanish. Practice daily till it makes you sick is the only way.
Me? I'm going to study Spanish abroad Cuernavaca for a 1 month to practice what I've learned and get Spanish drilled and set in my brain. Can't wait.
Thanks Rosetta Stone

might be great if you would install. Rosetta stone has some serious technical glitches, a website with nothing helpful, and poor tech support.

Do not purchase Rosetta Stone through Barnes & Noble. Purchase the item from Rosetta Stone. The price is the same but Rosetta Stone has a six month return policy while Barnes & Noble has a 14-day return policy.

It's great until you upgrade your computer and need thier support...
What is there not to love with this product; every aspect of the interface is great, until you get a computer virus and you need to install it on another machine. Called into customer support, "Sorry can't help you, you'll need customer support not techncial support." Wait, this is the customer support number, what is wrong with this picture? Call next day, "Yeah, you'll need the proof of purchase from 4 years ago to re-activate. Let us know when you find that." If a software product requires re-activation, it should allow de-activiation of prior installs, like iTunes. Now I have over $300 worth of useless CD's sitting in my desk drawer, compliments of RosettaStone. Buy Instant Immersion Italian Levels 1,2 & 3 or Fluenz and never have to worry about someone else's support problems.
Get with the 21st century RosettaStone.

I would not recommend this program to anyone seriously interested in mastering Spanish. (Note, if you are going to purchase it, buy it directly from Rosetta Stone so that you may easily return it if you do not like it. Otherwise, you may be out of pocket for a lot of money!) This program is boring, elementary, and non-contextual. By that, I mean it involves endless box clicking and repetition that will not get you very far in your command of the language. I could see no rhyme or reason to its approach, in that there is no literature, no story, no way to easily access grammar rules and examples, and no application that involves language in any meaningful way. You'll learn words for luggage, car trunk, tickets, stop light, etc., but you will not learn words that help you build on a story or a relevant thought. Level 5, the highest level, is basic, boring, and mind-numbing. Please be cautious about purchasing this product! It is a tremendous waste of money for anyone who has any language background and seeks to build to fluency.
