    A BEAUTIFUL LOVE STORY!!!

As a straight female raised in an ultraconservative, Catholic farming community, it was easy for me to understand Thomas' conflicts. This author has a unique insight into human nature and after reading Marcus and Thomas' story, I am more determined than ever to fight for the rights of the gay community. I shall definitely be reading this again.

Loved it !! If you are reading this review, then you have read the blurb and know this is a m/m erotic romance. I loved both Thomas and Marcus. Their story is one that proves love can truly conquer all. Marcus, (an art dealer), discovers Thomas, (an emerging artist), when he comes to NY to live and pursue his art career. From the beginning you can tell these two belong together, but Thomas comes from a southern conservative family and he is torn between his love of family and his feelings for Marcus. The road these two travel is not easy on either one, as a painful past unfolds for Marcus, and Thomas struggles with choosing between those at home he loves and the man he wants to call master for the rest of his life. This book does contain BDSM but it is beautifully written and oh so hot! I have read this numerous times, it is on my keeper shelf.

From the moment I read Holding the Cards, I was waiting for Marc

From the moment I read Holding the Cards, I was waiting for Marcus' story, and I wasn't disappointed. I can only echo all the other positive praises for Joey Hill, this series, and this book. Intense, gripping, erotic, steamy, heartbreaking, breathtaking, and all about love - with an added taste of kink. Some may see this series as all about the BDSM, but while it's a very strong component, each story is all about love and that soul deep connection two people can have. I'm a fan and working my way rapidly through this series. Keep 'em coming!

This book was emotional, intense, erotic, extreme and amazing! I loved Thomas and Marcus! And while I have read D/s stories, none of them got to me emotionally the way this one did. Once I started I couldn't put it down. Once again, I read a book that was out of my normal comfort zone and was awesomely surprised at how hooked I became and I couldn't not put this down! I am so sad its over, I am never deleting it from my Kindle!

This, without a doubt, one of the greatest love stories I have ever read. The complex and at times heartbreaking relationship between these two men is nothing short of amazing. I just can not say enough good things about Rough Canvas and I would urge all lovers of reading to give this book a chance. It does not disappoint and will quickly become one of your all time favorites. Joey W. Hill has completely out done herself with this book.

    Great read

The blurb on the cover does not do this story justice. There are so many well developed plot lines and twists that I could not put this book down. Something new was always coming up on the next page or in the next chapter. Plus the characters were so well developed in a perfectly imperfect way that they were just as fascinating. Their stories were intriguing and unique. The author also added in unexpected bits of humor that had me laughing out loud, which I do not normally do but gave this book an extra bonus. Then there were the sex scenes - Hot, hot, hot!

I will definitely be reading more from this author!

Good, as most of Joey's books are.

I have read all but the last in this series, and thus far, have enjoyed all but one.

    Another success

I'll jump on the bandwagon here and say definitely worth a read. I too don't go out of my way to read M/M romances but this one is wonderful. You revisit Marcus from Holding the Cards and Thomas. I love how Joey Hill interweaves various characters and series. The conflicts for both of them are realistic, as is their relationship as it develops. Another keeper that I'll be reading again. Enjoy!

Great Ending!!! 4.75 stars Almost 5!

I really liked this book. I did not love it, but I really really like it. I do not really care for the BDSM stuff you know "Slave, Master, Whips, Sex and Chains" and that why I given it 4.75 stars. However; I love a good story and Joey W. Hill is a exceptional writer. The romance in this book is sooo good . Beware it is M/M, but I did not care. (I am sooo straight and still did not care in the least) I love Thomas and Marcus. I wished Thomas was a warlock and Marcus was an angel because she wrote it in that direction. They are so good together. So therefore I love, love love then ending. I wanted more. I wish for love for everyone and that's why this book is good. Joey W. Hill makes us think twice after reading this book when one votes. Yes political correct thinking for love, choice and marriage in all fairness she did well. So yes, it's a definite read :-) Yes, you will take something away that tug's at the heart to cherish from reading this book. At least I did :-)

    Joey Makes it Work

Not being into m/m at all made me wonder whether I should even read this one, in spite loving this author and this series. But I didn't want to miss any character development that I might need to enjoy the rest of the series, so I went for it, figuring I could skim the turn-off parts. There were no turn-off parts. None. This may well be my favorite book by Joey and that's saying something. The development of the characters throughout is fantastic, the conflict engrossing, it's resolution redeeming beyond my hopes, the romance incredibly deep, the love scenes unbelievably scorching. I'm out of superlative adjectives for the moment. Just read it.

    I Also Recommend:

    I love it!

Rough Canvas is my first homosexual erotic read from Joey W. Hill and I am thoroughly impressed. The story sucks you in (no pun intended) and you simply cannot put it down. Thomas and Marcus make an exciting, perfectly meshed couple. Now my father's name is Thomas and his brother is named Marcus and at first I thought of them together in "that" way but after the first chapter I saw Hill's Thomas and Marcus, and not my father and uncle. That is accomplishment if I do say so myself because usually once I have something in my head it more than a little difficult to change it but Hill did. I finished within twenty-four hours of starting. I am currently reading it a second time before my other new erotic books arrive and I hardly ever read a book twice. I highly recommended this book to anyone who enjoys reading the love between two men evolve and change into something that will last forever.
