Overview

Few landmarks inspire as much awe and admiration as the magnificent palaces of Europe and the Orient. Visible symbols of untold wealth and power, these architectural wonders also served as homes to generations of royal families. In the opulent salons of Fontainbleau and Versailles, the imposing corridors of Buckingham Palace, and the imperial gardens of the Forbidden City, the world's most powerful rulers experienced the triumphs and tragedies of real life, engaged in countless love affairs and intrigues, and made critical decisions that affected the destinies of millions.

This sumptuous book tours us through the grandest and most beautiful palaces ever built—from Hampton Court and Schonbrunn Castle to the Alhambra, the Kremlin, and Versailles. Written by informed authorities, biographical profiles delve deep into the mysteries and legends behind each fabled residence; and full-color photos from archives and private collections capture the splendor of stately domes, towers, and kiosks; lush gardens, pavilions, and courtyards; and elegant interiors filled with the priceless treasures of the world. 10" x 14".

This book has plenty of history and imformation about royal architecture. There also are plenty of high glossed photos that lend to the appeal of this book.

While the pictures in 'Royal Palaces' are wonderful and there are many obscure palaces included, there are too many historical mistakes and misprints to make this book worthy of purchase.
