Overview

This lively chapter book combines the classic fun of a princess story with a modern sensibility and humor

Princess Emma is not your typical princess. She doesn't like pink, can't dance, and just can't seem to fit into the Royal Princess Academy mold. Other princesses are excited about the upcoming All-School Princess Contest, but secretly all Emma dreams of is being a dragon rider. When news breaks that dragons in the kingdom are falling ill, Emma resolves to solve the mystery, despite her family's urging to leave such problems to the Royal Council.

With her best friend Rapunzel and some unexpected help, not to mention some very un-princess-like maneuvers, Emma just might manage to save her beloved dragons, and possibly even the whole kingdom.

Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
Gr 2–3—Emma is no ordinary princess. She may be a member of her family's royal court, but she'd rather be riding dragons than looking pretty or learning how to have perfect posture. She even wants to talk her parents into letting her have a dragon as a pet for her birthday. Emma's unprincesslike maneuvers and knowledge of dragons might come in handy, though. All of the dragons in the kingdom are getting sick, and no one knows why. Can Emma figure out a way to save them? The characters are likable and entertaining, the humorous plot moves quickly and holds readers' interest, and the appealing cartoon illustrations add another dimension. Princess fans will not be disappointed by this early chapter book.—Kira Moody, Whitmore Library, Murray, UT

Cute book with a positive message. So many books these days have the main character talk negatively or use a lot of sarcasm. This book gives a great example of how our individual talents make us special and unique. Through the friendship of Emma and Rapunzel, girls will see what it means to be a good friend.

    Sample unhelpful

Sample doesn't even have one page of the story to read. Can't tell if the story is good or not. It just has pages before the story starts! Poor way to provide a sample.
