After finishing Rua by Miranda Kavi I can easily say I am such

After finishing Rua by Miranda Kavi I can easily say I am such a fan now, I will deff be picking up anything Miranda writes in the future after reading Rua. This book completely had me hooked from page one till the end, Miranda creates a new paranormal that is immensely captivating.

Celeste is just a normal girl. Or at least she likes to think she is, she may have purple eyes, and crows following her, but that doesn’t mean she’s not human right? As more and more strange happenings go on around Celeste she can no longer deny that she is not like other people, and the new mysterious boy with intense green eyes may be able to tell her what she is..

When you find out your own kind and ancient powerful beings want you dead, who can you trust?

What a refreshing read Rua turned out to be, going into Rua I wasn’t sure what to expect, and I have to admit. This book took me by total surprise! Miranda has come out with a wonderful debut novel, full of magic, thrill, romance, and mystery.

When it comes to the characters I thoroughly enjoyed them! Although it did have the whole mean girl and gay best friend like a lot of other YA novels do I still found the characters unique and enjoyable. You have Celeste our main character who although she is scared, she will face her fears head on to save the ones she love, you have Tink (it’s his nickname…Tink is my puppies name so that was a bonus! Ha) who is Celeste’s best friend who is always there for her, you have supportive and loving parents from both Celeste and Tink, and then there’s Rylan…the mysterious hot guy at the school! At first when confronted with Rylan I didn’t really like him, mainly because he was too confusing and I didn’t really ‘get him’ but when I continued on reading I ended up loving him! He is an amazing love interest and I cannot wait to read more of him and Celeste in book two.

Overall if you’re looking for something fresh and new, that has an intense romance (and is amazing) Then I would recommend Rua to you, Miranda Kavi is an amazing new author that will not disappoint.

    Didn't like it

I didn't like how easily you found everything out in this book. As soon as she meets the guy he basically tells her she's not human, at least I figured it out by what he was saying, I'm not sure she knew yet. I just wasn't intrigued at all. I need some suspense.

I liked the creative nature - what Celeste & Rylan are - of

I liked the creative nature - what Celeste & Rylan are - of the book as it was different from others that I have read. The rest of the book, however, was very typical for a YA book (mean girl, gay friend, 'I don't fit in', etc.).

This was a quick, easy read but I did notice some oddities, almost like the author forgot where the characters were at. Ex: around page 320, there's a 'fight' scene that starts out on top of a hill where a cottage is, and then the characters all tumble down to the bottom of the hill, but then suddenly Celeste is being held up against the cottage. I had to read through these couple of pages again to make sure I didn't miss something, but nope, no mention of them climbing their way back up the hill. Little things like this inthe book, where it's like the thought process wasn't finished all the way.

Even with the above example, it was easy to follow through with what the author wanted to get across.

Approx 360 pages. Would recommend for YA readers.

I'll be perfectly honest, the second I finished this book I couldn't help but think "well, there's two hours of my life I'll never get back"... This book is all over the place & really didn't make that much sense to me, it was such a struggle for me to finish it. Good thing I got it for free!

It was ok. Nothing against it or anything, it just wasn't my kind of book, although I have to say I did enjoy the copyright page (second in from the cover): I like an author with a sense of humor. And to the grammer police, I dint rely thinnk the gramer aint realy tthat badd. Seriously though, it wasn't. In most cases I think the author was probably writing how people actually talk, having them say things like "you did good" instead of "you did well" because who says "you did well" anyways? No one that's who.

    Hmm

Pretty good and it was short so I'm guessing that's why the characters weren't too thought out and relationships were as if they were on fast forward. I think there was a rush to get to the good stuff like romance scenes and action. But I believe this author has alot of potential.

    BookWorm

This book was okay. Not SUPER EXELLENT!!!! or like AWESOME!!! Just okay. The writing was a bit amature and im twelve. Sadly some authors can only produce a fracrion of talent others show.
THIS is about Celeste and Rylan and of course Tink. Tink is Celestes first friend in the small Kansas town. He is funny, cool, quirky, and yes for all yall haters GAY. Deal wit it. Anyway she gets infatiuated with Rylan and notices some freaky s#*% about him. She realizes that she is a super freakin cool supernatural thingy-mabob! ( i aint gonna tell what or somone may report me) Well she gets this cool power and with both Rylans and Tinks plus the temporary Therepist Kara they work together to try to Get rid of the evil Sidhe FAYGA!!! DUN! DUN! DUNNN!!!!
try out the book FALLEN STAR if you like this one!

    Not very good.

I lost interest and still haven't finished it to be honest. It is definitely for younger kids. Maybe 11 or so. Even then they might not like it. I probably will not read any more books by this author.

    Creative but not interesting

Rua had a plot that was new and unique but that is all I can say. The characters were not interesting, believable, or realistic. Neither were the situations. Celeste's relationship with Rylan kind of just popped up and I felt like they just liked the physical aspects of each other more than anything. Celeste wasn't the most likable character due to her lack of personality. Rylan was just a bore that was fast and seemed to be hormone driven. If the story had more depth and detail, it might have been better. I am usually not one for reviewing on an author's grammar and punctuation, but there were quite a few errors in the editing. ("You did good" instead of "You did well"). Like I said, I do not normally review an author's grammar (since mine is not perfect) but I know it bothers some people. Overall, it would be more interesting to a group of 11-13 year olds.
