Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Ah, there is nothing like siblings and the constant friction even among those who get along fairly well. Ruby's friend has a new tea set and they decide to have a "tea for two party." Max her younger brother wants to join in, but Ruby says no. His role will be that of the waiter. Max does his part, he brings the tea, the milk, the sugar and then the girls ask for cake. Shrewd fellow that he is, Max decorates each cupcake with a gummy spider. Like Little Miss Muffet, the girls flee—this tea party for two is over. Max finally gets "Tea for three" as he enjoys the cakes and tea left behind. The sly expression on the last page lets kids know how much Max enjoyed outsmarting his big sister Ruby. A shaped board book companion to Max Drives Away. 2003, Viking/Penguin Putnam, Ages 1 to 4.
