This is a fun adventure involving a genie-like character named Cirrus who grants Rudy 3 wishes. It starts out with Rudy making a mess of things with his brother and sister but he comes to grips after his third wish. My kids and I really had fun letting Rudy have it. We thought his family was a little soft on him but I don't want to spoil it.
I personally thought this book was very well thought out and had a great underlying message for children. Rudy and Cirrus of Karma teaches children reasoning and that your actions do have consequences. I read this to my daughters and they loved the book as well. The illustrations kept there attention along with the story line. They were easily able to relate to rudy and reflect back on the times when they lied, stole from their sister etc...After finishing up the book I always have them summarize and tell me what they learned from the book and they were able to break it down just fine and got the moral of the story as well. They have asked me twice in the same day already to re-read the book to them
Rudy is a bully of an older brother who likes to hassle his little brother and sister, Eddie and Lily. After breaking a family heirloom vase he blames Eddie and Lily and gets sent on an errand by his mom. During this errand Rudy meets a mysterious creature named Cirrus who alters his attitude toward his siblings. The story is told in straight rhyme and is easy to read. It's a fast-paced adventure that doesn't let up until Rudy is safely back in the company of his family. The simple yet effective illustrations enhance the story without overwhelming. The book provides a nice message of treating others as you'd like to be treated. Kids will enjoy the odd situations Rudy falls into and how he surprisingly escapes.
