Rules of Engagement Sizzles with Sensuality

I was given a copy of Rules of Engagement several weeks ago,but put it on my bookshelf because I was not in a mood to read a romance novel at the time. When I finally picked it up, I couldn't put in down. It was an intelligent, provocative and sensual book that reminded me of the pleasures of reading romance novels. I loved Miss Montgomery's lively banter between Adam and Raleigh. Her fluid use of oxymorons helped the reader feel the characters' confusion. But mostly, I enjoyed the skilled manner in which Miss Montgomery built sexual tension between the characters until we all had to stop and smoke a cigarette when our tension was finally relieved. I enjoyed reading this book immensely.

Kudos for a magnificient first novel!

As an avid reader of romance novels, I say kudos to Selena Montgomery for a stellar first novel. I continue to re-read this work. Her images and strong characters lure me back again and again. What a wonderful, imaginative, and believable plot and characters. The tension between Adam and Raleigh is magnificient! Montgomery is a skilled writer and storyteller. Her attention to emotional and relational detail, as well as suspense and action, made the book a superb read! I am circulating this novel, this gem, among my friends. I just hated to see this story end. I look forward to this gifted writers next work.

    A Wonderful Read!

For romance novel novices, Selena Montgomery's first release, 'Rules of Engagement,' is a great introduction! The story centers around a spy and her mission to recover stolen technology. Her mission is complicated by her partner, who is the man she once loved, until she betrayed him. I don't normally read romance novels, but purchased this on a recommendation from a friend. It is a fast-paced book, with intrigue and suspense, and of course, romance. The story of the missing technology is almost as exciting as the love story. Also, I was pleased to realize that although this is categorized as an African-American interest novel, the characters and the story are universal. As an Asian-American, I could easily imagine myself as Raleigh, chasing bad guys, building bombs and falling in love. A must-read!
