A Great Story For Years To Come

Rumble Fish is a fine book that is trying to send a message about the gang violence that she was against that took place in cities. The book is definitely aimed for teens that are around the age of the characters. Everyone should read it, though. If you're a fan of action-packed fight scenes, you'll enjoy this book, but if you enjoy a more sophisticated read, this isn't for you. The story is based on a fourteen year-old named Rusty James. He is the toughest in the neighborhood and has an older brother called the Motorcycle Boy. But things take a turn for the worst, and Motorcycle Boy can't exactly help him. S.E. Hinton does a great job at making the reader live through the scenes and the thoughts of Rusty. It doesn't quite compare to "The Outsiders," but it is a modern classic and deserves recognition. I ranked it four stars because it's almost too easy to read.

Pretty Awesome Book!

Rumble Fish was all together a good book that tries to send a message to people about violence. The book was an interesting, thriller book. The book was exciting and I didn't want it to end. The main characters are Rusty James, Steve, and The Motorcycle Boy. Rusty James is a fourteen year old who loves to fight. He wants to be like his brother, The Motorcycle Boy, a tough guy. Rusty James relies on The Motorcycle Boy to bail him out when he's in trouble, but he can't always do that anymore. S.E. Hinton did a good job writing this book. The plot was crazy, but interesting. Rusty James and The Motorcycle Boy are courageous and interesting characters. The theme of the book was a dark and tough place, a really good job! Rumble Fish had an interesting, but weird ending. The ending left me asking myself, is that it? I read the book in three days, and I say it's one of the best books I've ever read. I read another one of S.E. Hinton's books a while ago. "The Outsiders" is a pretty good book, but not as good as "Rumble Fish." This book is for guys who are teens and love action/fighting books.

Rumble Fish

Rumble Fish is one of the few books that I've enjoyed reading. I guess I like it so much because it's about another low life gang member. A lot of people don't think that their stories are important or meaningful, but they are. I thought it was interesting because at the end one of those low life criminals did something he believed was morally right.

Okay Writing

Rumble Fish is about a kid who relies on his fists instead his head, and relies on his older brother to bail him out of those extremely troubling events. It's more in the category of 'That Was Then, This Is Now!' but didn't really have those Outsiders spinoffs. It lost me after a little bit.

Great summer reading

This is a great summer reading book. Rumble Fish is about a boy named Rusty-James who wants to live up to his brothers reputation. His brother is called the Motorcycle Boy and his reputation is the toughest kid in the world so Rusty-James is always fighting people so that he can be like his brother. Rusty-James fights everyone to try to be like his brother. The biggest fight in the story is when Biff and Rusty-James fight. During the fight biff pulls out a knife and slices Rusty-James. Even after this he still wants to be like the Motorcycle Boy until he reaches a conclusion. S.E. Hinton does a great job of using imagery words to help you create a mental picture of the setting. You actually felt like you were there. This was an overall good book and was easy to read and I would recommend it to anyone who like a lot of action, and this book is geared toward teens.

Rusty James meets a boy named the motorcycle boy and he helps every one with their problems. And then one day he disappears for a while. And the one day rusty James gets in a fight with biff and then rusty James takes biff down and then the motorcycle boy shows up and rusty James goes over to the motorcycle boy and then he starts talking to him mean while biff gets up with a knife and starts going toward rusty, and rusty James turns around and biff slices him with his knife. Then at the end of the story he gets a conclusion.

Rumble Fish

Rumble Fish is a story about a young boy who relies on his fists rather than his brains. He strives off his brother, the Motorcycle Boy, reputation of the tough kid. I liked Rumble Fish beacuse it has a lot of interesting events and always kept me entertained. Rusty is the toughest kid on town, but his reputation rides on his older brother, the Motorcycle Boy. The Motorcycle Boy is always there when Rusty gets into situations too big for him to handle. This all changes when a series of unfortunate events takes place, and Rusty's reputation is threatened. But this time, the Motorcycle Boy isn't there to defend him.
Over all, I liked this book. The plot always kept me entertained and wanting to read more. The characters were mysterious and interesting. This made me want to know more about them. Tjis book has a good theme for teens. The style fit what I like but I found it hard to figure out the setting. I haven't read any other books by S.E. Hinton, but after reading this one I would like to. I liked Rumble Fish because it had interesting events and kept me entertained. I would recommend this book to teens who like fighting and gangs.

This was terrible.

Having to be forced into reading this novel for my summer reading, I picked this book up and started right away. After about five pages, I hated it. I know that S.E is writing in the characters perspective, but the grammar was so bad- it was hard to follow! There was NO plot that I can imagine (except the little obstacles). It was terrible, had a somewhat O.K ending. But in conclusion, this is the worst book I have ever read.

an incredible book

everyone likes the outsiders, but really i think its overplayed. yes, it was good, and is assigned in most junior high english classes, but they should really explore SE Hinton's other works. That was then, this is now, and Rumble fish, are SE Hinton's best works. I've read all of SE Hinton's young adult novels, and this was the most incredible. It bothered me though, and left me with an edgy raw feeling, which is typical to her books, at least for me. Rusty James wants to be like his big brother so badly, but just because hes cool. He doesn't understand the motorcycle boy, not really. He's built up a momentum, although he might not realize it. Things come apart at the end, but its really all been building up. Rusty James follows in his brothers footsteps in the end though, although not the way he expected. Rumble fish, the title, i think refers to both of them, fighting with themselves, (which siamese fighting fish do)against who they really are. but both end up who they are whether they like it or not at the end. They both end up alone, and really blocked from the world. Its an absolutely amazing book.

Amazing book

Well I love this book. It's a great book. I enjoyed it and recommend it for many readers. Im a big fan of S.E Hinton books. she is an amazing author and has interested me in becoming an author. Thank you.

A REALLY GOOD BOOK

'Some day I'm gonna look just like him.' Rusty James is the number one tough guy on his side of the bridge. He wants to be just like his older brother, The Motorcycle boy, but everyone says he will never look like him. Rusty James grew up a tough guy but when things got out of control, The Motercycle boy was there to back him up. But he wasn't going to be able to do it everytime. I think you would like this book if you like books with action, fights, gangs, and drama. I felt that this book is a good book, because I could relate to it. In my old town I was a tough guy and I had someone to back me up.

rumble fish was a rumble mess.

This book was an okay book, i was very confused at some point but of course i got on track of it. i would recommend it to someone who is in the shadow of thier brother who is the opposite of a brother to look up to. I enjoyed reading this book but i wouldnt read it again.

On my way to 'gettting it'

The first thing I said when I finsihed this book was, 'I didn't get it.' So, I reaserched it and I found out that S.E. Hinton says that it has deep mythological meanings, and that if you didn't get it, read it again when you're 25. So, I did read it again (even though I'm not 25)and I'm on my way to understanding it. I fell in love with Rusty-James sometimes and wanted to smack him other times, and I was deeply interesting in The Motorcycle Boy. This book is NOT ANYTHING like the innocence of The Outsiders, but well worth your time.

Rumble Fish

The book is about 14 year old Rusty-James living in the shadow of his big brother the motorcycle boy who is praised by many. Rusty-James is living in an apartment with his father who is a drunk and the motorcycle boy who often leaves them. He goes through regular teenage hardships like friendship, relationships, parties, and school. He's trying to live up to the motorcycles boys' repuatation, but it could prove destructive for Rusty-James. When schools not going well and his girlfriend breaks up with him, he is in for trouble. Whenever trouble comes his way, the motorcycle boy is there to save him. What happens if the motorcycle boy is not there to save Rusty-James from trouble?

I had to read this book for a schoold report and as soon as I read the first chapter I was like, wow, what a stupid book, I'm gonna fail this assignment. Throughout the book, I fell in love with the Motercycle Boy, and resinted Rusty-James. I cried the entire eleventh chapter after that fateful thing happened. I would recomend this book to anyone and everyone.

Rumble Fish-AWESOME!

S.E. Hinton writes the BEST books ever! Rumble Fish was a fantastic book and Rusty-James is a GREAT character! I enjoyed this book a TON and give it five stars!

I read the outsiders for school and thought it was beyond 5 stars it simply was the best book i've ever read and so I started to read other s.e hinton books. They are all really good , the outsiders is the best though. Rumble Fish was a really good book I think when s.e hinton said its that book that you either love or hate is true. It's really good and it teaches you that you should always be yourself because wanting to be like someone else is just stupid because you have no idea how it feels like to be in,'the other person's shoes' it's a great book. I reccomend it.
