Praise for Geronimo Stilton books:
"Lightning pace and full-color design will hook kids in a flash." -- Publishers Weekly
Children's Literature - Sarah Maury Swan
Travel along with Geronimo Stilton as he is forced into another journey by his mouse friends. This time the self-proclaimed "calm and peaceful rodent" heads to Brazil, where he is left on his own to learn about the country. He ends up in Mato Grosso, the heart of the rainforest. Along the way he visits Brasilia, the country's capital; Rio de Janeiro, home of famous beaches; and Iguacu Falls at the Argentine border. He also helps a tribe retrieve its precious "Heart of Light." Geronimo learns to samba and has his picture taken with an anaconda draped around his neck. He plummets into the lake at the bottom of the Falls and gets lost in a massive wetlands area called the Pantanal. But he does learn Portuguese and overcomes a number of fears. When his friends join up with him at the end of his adventure, Geronimo admits that he has led a boring life in the past—but he won't anymore. Although the layout, with words printed in different fonts and colors with apparent randomness, can be distracting, there is much good information in this book. Geronimo's adventure offers many starting points for classroom discussion, including subjects of geography, plants and animals, and languages. There should be a pronunciation guide. Most American children are not going to know to pronounce the j as a "j," or that Joao sounds like "zh OW n." Reviewer: Sarah Maury Swan

My ten-year-old grandson who struggles in school did not enjoy reading until he discovered Geronimo Stilton. Now he's hooked on this series! The book is not a basic black & white chapter book. Instead the pages are loaded with color, colorful pictures, and random letters throughout the story printed in various colors. Stories are fast paced and lids learn fun facts about the places Geronimo visits. My twelve-year-old granddaughter also loves these books.
