Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
In this story Rumble the Dragon and his spider friend, Shelby, encounter their first hotel guest, Buddy the Beaver. The problem is that they have no beds yet. Buddy is happy to help them by building beds, tables and chairs for the entire hotel. All three characters are rewarded with a night in their own bed made especially for each of them. The story ends with Rumble thanking Buddy for his nice work as the beaver leaves the next morning. This is another "Rumble the Dragon" book in the "Read-it Readers" series and would be useful for independent reading in a classroom. This does appear to have the complete story line in the text for comprehension and does include an ending. There is one confusing part where Shelby keeps wanting to charge Buddy for building the beds—when in fact she should be paying him—which may mislead younger readers. But other than that, it appears to be a solid story. 2006 (orig. 2004), Picture Window Books, Ages 7 to 9.
