(Excerpt)

"I can't tell you how glad I am to have you with me, Rick," she said. "I don't think I would have made it without you."

"Aww," he said. "Don't say that." He reached up and brushed a lock of hair away from her eyes and tucked it behind her ear. "You're a trooper. We got through it together."

"You were great. You knew just what to do."

He grinned wryly. "It's the training. I've been in situations like this before, though not in such beautiful company."

A warmth spread over her face. "You must like the danger."

"It's not that so much. I like to help people."

The approaching roar of an aftershock drove fear into Misty's heart like a stake. The building started to shake again. Before she realized what was happening, he was on top of her, shielding her from anything that might fall. With his right hand, he grabbed the edge of the comforter and pulled it over them both like a tent. The whine of stressing beams and the rumble of shifting wood made her tremble in terror. She could die here, today. They both could. What if something fell on Rick and killed him right on top of her? What if they were both crushed? She started to hyperventilate.

"Misty," he said firmly. "Look at me. It'll be over soon. I'll keep you safe. Trust me."

She felt like her heart was going to burst out of her chest. Small sounds escaped her throat, sounds of fear and terror. Her muscles twitched, urging her to flee, but there was nowhere to run. She was trapped.

"Take slow, deep breaths."

His voice brought a measure of calm, though panic still gripped her. "I... can't," she huffed.

"You can. Just think about something else. What do you do?"

She gasped for air. "What?"

"Tell me about your job."

What was he talking about? Her job? "Att- Attorney. I'm... I'm an attorney."

A loud crash erupted as something massive shook the floor.

Misty squeezed her eyes shut. "Oh, God. I don't want to-"

Then his mouth was on hers, warm and soft and comforting. Terrified and desperate to live, she flung her arms around his waist and clutched him to her, focusing her fear into passion.

He held her close with his strong arms around her while his kiss became more sensual. Despite the thunderous noise, the shaking of the building, she couldn't help but respond. Her heart raced, pumping fear-heated blood through her body, to her hands where they touched his skin, to her breasts where his chest pressed down on her from above, to her pubic mound where his thigh brushed against her.

He moved over her fully, positioning one knee on each side of her own, and lowered himself onto her. She opened her thighs a few inches. With her heightened senses, stimulated by fear, she became distinctly aware of his erection pressing against her crotch. She let her hands slide down his smooth skin, over the rough fabric of his jeans to his butt, appreciating the curve of it. His hips began to undulate gently, and his movements were starting to tug her skirt upward inch by inch. She couldn't believe how aroused she was. She grabbed his ass and pulled with his movements, wanting him to know just how badly she wanted him right then. At some point, she became aware that the aftershock had subsided, but her excitement had not.

This was a very cute and very very short fantasy for me to read. If you had a fantasy bucket list this would probably be on there.
Misty was cooking in her kitchen. Her new neighbor Rick the firefighter smelt smoke and decided to check out where it was coming from, so he knocks on Misty's door. While at the door an earthquake takes place, leaving Misty a little frighten and scared. To calm her down Rick kisses Misty and in the mist of an earthquake it became really steamy and earth shattering sexually for both Rick and Misty. When it came down to the final seconds of beinging rescued it intensify. Medium explicit sex so be warn.

This was a really fun, nice and quick read.

    Storyline: GOOD
    Intimacy: GOOD
    Enjoyment: FAIR
