Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rūmī, also known as Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Balkhī, and more popularly simply as Rumi (1207 - 1273), was a 13th-century Persian poet, faqih, Islamic scholar, theologian, and Sufi mystic. Rumi's influence transcends national borders.His poems have been widely translated into many of the world's languages and transposed into various formats. Rumi has been described as the "most popular poet".

About the Author

Jalal al-Din Rumi was the greatest Sufi mystic and poet in the Persian language. His experience of love, longing, and loss turned Rumi into the greatest poet of the 13th Century. His didactic epic "Spiritual Couplets", widely influenced mystical thought and literature throughout the Muslim world.
