Running Dog by Don DeLillo
This is a weird book about several people.
First, there is Lightborn. He's a gallery owner who deals in erotica artifacts. He's been approached by a Christopher Ludecke, who supposedly has a copy of Adolf Hitler performing pornographic acts on his bunker as the Russians are advancing, just before he killed himself.
Sadly, Mr. Ludecke is killed by one of the parties interested in obtaining the film, so Mr. Ludecke has to arbitrate between the parties.
The parties include a Mr. Lloyd Percival, a US senator who has a big collection of erotica, Richie Armbriski, a drug lord based in Dallas, TX, and Earl Mudger, who ran Radial Matrix, a government spy operation.
To compound things even more, Radial Matrix is being accursed by a a schism - Arthur Lomax is still with the government, but Earl Mudger has left the agency.
Caught between them is Howard Glen Selvy - a retired agent who is running - he's the running dog - from everyone and everything.
Recording all of this, is Moll Robbins, a reporter for the magazine Running Dog, who is trying to write a story about the Senator and sleeps with everyone to be able to get it....
The book is written from the third person point if view of each of the main characters. There is a clear pause when the point if view changes. I thought it was well written, but i could never get into the story, perhaps because of the subject matter. It reads easily in a few days.
