Overview

Action, suspense, romance, laughs, and just enough sex... a campaign you'll never forget. The political thriller with heart.

THE NEXT PRESIDENT IS GOING TO BE A WOMAN...

Catherine Young, Vice President and newly-anointed Democratic nominee, is surging in the polls. The race is on against opposition candidate Jerusha Hutchins, former stewardess and blonde beauty, who is the darling of the far-right Liberty Party. But with political wunderkind Zane Zarillo running her campaign, Catherine is bound to hold her lead.

Suddenly a medical emergency puts the President in the hospital and forces Catherine to act in his place… a perfect opportunity for her to show her Oval Office stuff. Just when her election looks like a sure thing, Catherine's romantic fling from decades ago comes to light. Will the American public accept a woman with a past?

What readers are saying:

… RUNNING had me up till the wee hours of the morning! And, when I was not reading it, I was thinking about the characters. This book is at times funny, heartbreaking, and suspenseful.

… writing, pace, and storyline were so good that I found myself putting off other things so I could keep reading.

… it grabbed me and didn't let go. With a fast-paced plot and an unerring feel for the cinematic, Fitzgerald creates a thriller that will resonate not just with political junkies like myself, but the suspense-thriller reader as well.

Editorial Reviews

Hartford Book Examiner - John Valeri
"RUNNING is a political thriller at its core, but it also offers thought provoking commentary on the pressures of public life. Fitzgerald is a gifted storyteller who fully understands the value of offering a little something for everyone – and her well-crafted story is a testament to the power of self-publishing done right. She may be seeking your vote but she’s already got mine!"
Underground Book Reviews - Kimberly Shursen
"Move over James Patterson, Patrice Fitgerald has arrived!

It is for the sophisticated reader who will be taken behind the scenes to feel the emotions and experience the struggles a candidate faces when running for the highest position in the country.

Rating: Five and a half out of Five Stars – Top Pick."

Meet the Author

Patrice Fitzgerald is in her third, fourth, or fifteenth act at this point. Writing and singing have always been part of her life, but she made a fifteen-year detour into practicing law. She got over it.

Now #1 in Science Fiction Anthologies, her new short story set in Hugh Howey's WOOL universe is called "The Sky Used to be Blue." It will be followed by a second short novel in the Karma series. The rest of her writing includes tightly plotted and fast-paced novels like "RUNNING," plus quirky short stories about sex, God, and death--not necessarily in that order--such as "Till Death Do Us Part" and "Looking for Lance." Her stories have appeared in a number of anthologies.

Patrice is currently at work writing whatever inspires her at any given moment. In addition, she is a professional mezzo-soprano who sings in styles ranging from opera and Broadway to jazz. Patrice is the mother of four fairly adult children, two by birth and two by marriage. She lives in Connecticut on the water with her wonderful singing, programming, writing and trumpet-playing husband. She is thrilled that RUNNING, her first published novel, has become a Kindle bestseller and has been read and enjoyed by people from all over the world.

Fun, fast read for the election season!

From Sarah to Michelle to Herman, we have seen the slips and foibles of the real candidates for President of the United States... which range from funny to cringe-worthy. In RUNNING, you have not one but two women going for the top job. When one of them discovers that she is being blackmailed because of her past, the fallout is swift and dramatic.

This is a fast-paced political thriller with a female protagonist who has a heart. RUNNING includes passion, betrayal, and the quest for power. Don't miss it.
