Overview

Gabe, Jace, and Ash: three of the wealthiest, most powerful men in the country. They’re accustomed to getting anything they want. Anything at all. For Gabe, it’s making one particular fantasy come true with a woman who was forbidden fruit. Now she’s ripe for the picking...

When Gabe Hamilton saw Mia Crestwell walk into the ballroom for his hotel’s grand opening, he knew he was going to hell for what he had planned. After all, Mia is his best friend’s little sister. Except she’s not so little anymore. And Gabe has waited a long time to act on his desires.

Gabe has starred in Mia’s fantasies more than once, ever since she was a teenager with a huge crush on her brother’s best friend. So what if Gabe’s fourteen years older? Mia knows he’s way out of her league, but her attraction has only grown stronger with time. She’s an adult now, and there’s no reason not to act on her most secret desires.

As Gabe pulls her into his provocative world, she realizes there’s a lot she doesn’t know about him or how exacting his demands can be. Their relationship is intense and obsessive, but as they cross the line from secret sexual odyssey to something deeper, their affair runs the risk of being exposed—and vulnerable to a betrayal far more intimate than either expected.

I received this book through the Goodreads giveaway. This book is another wonderful creation from Maya Banks. I admit that by around page 30 I was worried this would be another Fifty Shades book. However, I can say this book far surpasses Fifty Shades, with the added benefit that you get to a conclusion in only one book versus three! This book will hook you and you won't be able to put it down. A great combination of steamy romance, drama, and some great secondary stories as well. Maya Banks is on her way to creating another amazing trilogy!! I am looking forward to the next book!(

Hated this book. Only finished it because I paid for it. The characters were awful and Mia was really annoying and pathetic. I would recommend the crossfire series it's better.

I really didn't like this book.  I found the female protaganist to be weak and the male a complete jerk.  It really didn't translate as romance.  And I thought the story line was weak.  I love some of Maya Banks other books.  Judge for yourself though, because many readers gave this 5 stars.

I've read every book Maya has written and continue to look forward to future releases, just a little surprised at the apparent blatant similarities to Fifty Shades of Gray. Maya's writing style is much preferred in my mind, and the book does differ, however anyone who has read that book will no doubt be unable to not sense the connection from beginning to end. The core of the characters are in essence the same.
There are differences of course, just the skeleton of the entire book is like a glowing neon sign. In contrast though, it appears Fever moves on to different chars as Maya does so well and I am looking forward to reading it!
Not hating, I enjoyed the read just letting you know what to expect.

You'll Rush to find what happens next in every chapter

Take 50 Shades and throw it in the circular file because this book takes contractual relationships to new and better heights. Mia has a backbone of steel, making her a protagonist worth rooting for. Gabe may be arrogant, but he still loves her. Add in the gripping sex scenes and you won’t be disappointed. The plot will keep your nose buried until the end and wishing you can get your hands on book two.

This book contains bondage, anal, exhibitionism, and physical abuse from a minor character (resolved).

Summary: Mia knows how hard life can be, but her brother was able to become successful after their parents died, raise her, and send her through graduate school. So why is she working in a bakery? Gabe was born with a silver spoon but works hard to keep everything he has. After his ex-wife, he also keeps contracts with all his women. He is in control. So how will each of them handle the other now that Mia is old enough for Gabe and both have lusted for each other for years?

Poorly Written and Waste of Money

If you like retold storylines and want a mix of Bared to you and 50 Shades of boring this is the book for you! This book dragged from page 1 and there wasn't much hope by page 155 yet i kept reading hoping for a good twist but i was sadly met by another formulaic ending...sad times.

Disappointing. I like some of Maya Bank's stories but the hero didn't do it for me in this story and the part where he decides he loves her, and does something unforgivable, left me COLD! So disappointed.

Not a scrap of love in this. Sick and twisted. The main character was cruel and sadistic. The main female character, Mia, was forgettable at best. In real life she would have kicked him to the curb long before he used her and abused her. I would love my money back.

Not so much! Loved Fifty Shades, but this book just seemed like a sad attempt to recreate that book. The characters were not very realistic, and there were several side stories (such as Lisa, the ex wife) that were left hanging. This is the first book I've read by Maya Banks, and probably the last. I was left feeling that she's a scattered writer, and really only adds a plot to support the degrading and unsupported sex scenes.

Wow this book was so unexpected for me. Oh I have read almost ALL of Maya Banks' books and I new this was going to be good but there's always an unexpected connection to a book. This book reminded some of her Sweet Series and Damon and Serena's story. Although similar but totally different.

Gabe was a strong, sexy, dominant billionaire who was burned by a previous relationship. He was closed off to emotions and didn't want to risk his heart.

Mia has been half in love with him since she was a teenager and stunned to find out he had lusted after her for so long so when he suggested contractual relationship she hesitated only for a moment knowing he could very well break her heart.

When Gabe felt he was getting too attached instead of embracing his new feelings he became a coward. Mia realized this but it was too late to get to him. In the end Gabe learned what he always wanted was right there in front of him and he didn't even know it. But was it too late for him to get back the best thing in his life?

The story had depth and May didn't let us down in the heat department. It was filled with so much heat I thought I might combust. Gabe was sexy and arrogant but sweet at times. Gabe and Mia were meant to be together and help each other grow and love.

This was a great start to another promising series. A must read!

Such a disapointment as a romance

Ugh! What a dreadful book. How can Gabe's actions be considered romantic or loving? I thought this to be a eealky perverse love story...and that's not because of the BDSM. Fifty shades was a good romance with a twist. This was anything but.

RUSH, a good read but could have been a great book!

I truly like Maya Banks books, so I really looked forward to this book. It was a truly good story. The hero Gabe is 14 years older than his heroine Mia. She is also his best friend's younger sister. He can't have a normal relationship with women, Mia included, due to a nasty divorce. The arrangement, contract, they engage in is all about him. She is happy to go along because she has secretly crushed on him for years. The D/S relationship seems to work until (spoiler) a near rape situation that Gabe puts Mia in occurs. He realizes his terrible mistake and apologizes and tries to make up for it. The Paris incident happens aroung page 250. After another stupid situation, where he pushes her away, he loses her. What made me give this book only 3 instead of 5 was how poorly Gabe is made to grovel/beg to take Mia back. He did not suffer enough to equal what he put her through. The book was approximately 350 pages long. This great author belittled the situation, spent so little time on his suffering and made the heroine appear weak. I will read the next future books for this series because that's just me. I hope Maya makes the future books about Jace and Ash,( if they mess up like Gabe) makes the punishment equal the crime. It is nice to see strong women in books.

    Wow....Shockingly provocative

Very sensual and full of sex consisting of B&D. I felt like Mia was humiliated one too many times, and that is not something I particularly care for. The "contractual" sexual arrangement the story is about was fascinating. Enjoyed the book.

I think more than anything, this book made me angry. It reminded me a lot of fifty shades of gray but there is definitely one particular Paris scene in this book that makes me hate Gabe for the remainder of the story. I loved how Mia had a backbone, but I think she lost too much self respect. I loved how the beginning got straight to the point, as well as the ending. Everything in between just made me pissed off. I hate Gabe. I think Mia is a dull. However, I loved her description of everything. She was very detailed but left much to the imagination. I'll look up some of her other books. I don't, however, pick Rush as the first book I would pick up to reread on my bookshelf.
