NO CYRILLICS & CD-ROM included does not work on Mac OS X 10.5

I wish I had looked at the reviews first before buying this book. I was in a hurry at the time of purchase and regret buying this. Not only is there no cyrillic anywhere in the book, save for the listed alphabet on pages 16 to 20, but the CD-ROM (dated 2006) doesn't work on my Mac. As a result of opening the software, in order to find this out, I now can not return it for a refund.
There are a number of good websites around. The UCLA website is good, covering all aspects of learning Russian: writing, reading, aural and oral, including online tests. See http://www.russian.ucla.edu/beginnersrussian/student/home.htm

    Wow...

If my only goal was to learn how to speak Russian this would be a great book because it comes with a cd. However my goal is to be able to read write and speak Russian. Definetly not the book for me because all of the Russian is transcribed into Roman characters.

From a Student of Two Months

I read the table of contents which looked very appealing to me, but I wish I had looked further before purchasing. I have begun to learn how to read the Cyrillic alphabet, so the problem I have with this book is that it spells the words in Latin print, and sounds it out in the same. Why not spell it in Cyrillic and sound it out in Latin print? I feel like reading this book would actually be a regression in my learning. I want to speak Russian and read it. I have hardly opened the book since I bought it.

    Regretting My Purchase

I bought this book, in hopes of learning Russian and the Cyrillic alphabet which is used in Russian and a very necessary and important part to learn the Russian language. This book is good except for the fact that everything is transliterated into the Latin alphabet....which doesn't help me at all.....a student studying how to read, write and speak Russian....it would be better if there was the Cyrillic in the book along with the Latin

To all of the reviews so far -

My family started as German, but moved to Russia. One of the members being the relatively famous Kount Nesselrode, who has a pudding, mountain, and manor named after him (which has beenn coonverted into a hospital). His grandchildren moved to Chicago, and spread out all across the U.S. Ever since I learned of my family's history, I have been fascinated with the Rusdian culture. Russian really is such a beutiful language; you should all just listen to a Russian jazz song in order to undefstand what I am tslking about.
