This book covers a selection of Russian poems from ca. 1752-1956. The poets featured here represent a fair picture of Russian poetry of the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. However, special emphasis is laid on the lyric poetry of the 19th and early 20th centuries, including women writers and even some minor poets.

Meet the Author
Maria Swiecicka-Ziemianek (Ph.D. University of Pennsylvania) is Associate Professor of Russian at Temple University. She has published numerous articles, chapters in books and reviews on Slavic literature, culture and civilization and history as well as a scholarly edition and translation of the Memoirs of Jan Chryzostom z Goslawic Pasek and co-translated the Memoirs of a Space Traveler: Further Reminiscences of Ijon Tichy, by Stanislaw Lem.
