For years scandal has rocked Rosewood, Pennsylvania—and high school seniors Aria, Emily, Hanna, and Spencer have always been at the center of the drama. They’ve lost friends, been targeted by a ruthless stalker named A, and narrowly escaped death. And it’s not over yet.
Aria’s love life is on the fritz. Emily’s exploring her wild side. Hanna’s kissing the enemy. And someone from Spencer’s past—someone she never thought she’d see again—is back to haunt her.
But none of that compares to what happened last spring break. It’s their darkest secret yet and guess who found out? Now A is determined to make them pay for their crime, and the only thing scarier than A is the fear that maybe, just maybe, they deserve what’s coming to them.

Of course you're going to see the fangirls out there who will rate this book five stars just because its a PLL book. I will be honest, i loved all 9 books. They were full of suspense and lots of juicy secrets. This time, not so much. It read more like a story. There's no "wow" moment and no great cliff hanger. I think Sara was going to stop PLL series after the whole "Ali was really Courtney" thing but PLL got popular and Sara was paid more. Maybe she ran out of ideas. Her contract still has more books so i'm hoping shes not rushing these. Another thing i'm sick of is the repeating. I know all about Ali, i know about about Emily being called Killer etc! It's as if Sara forgot we read the other books. Its a waste of ink and page numbers to repeat yourself so many times. Just because this book wasn't as great, it won't stop me from finishing the series. Crossing my fingers for a better book next time.

What I Liked: 1) Reading PLL is like reading a tabloid, for me. Like, you can't possibly imagine how all of these crazy things are happening, yet you can't stop reading. I love being able to indulge in something like that every once in a while. It is unapologetically unbelievable, and I love it for that. Like one of those horrible reality shows when you wonder, "are you like that in real life, or are you only acting that way because there is a camera on you?" 2) Once again, we were met with more questions than answers. That's something I like about the series, but there was something different about it in Ruthless than some of the others. In Ruthless, we were met with a definite answer about one of the issues. I thought at one point everything might be all over, but of course it can't be. It was almost as if there was a story within a story. And while the main story continues, the other one was over. 3) I liked the direction the plot is going, though there were a few times I questioned the motivations of the four girls.
What I Didn't Like: 1) It almost felt like we were reliving parts of some of the other books. That was one thing that really just bothered me. I would be reading along and think, wait, didn't this already happen, just with another character? That disappointed me some, because I've always found Miz Shephard's storylines to be unique and creative. 2) Why does every book start with, "well, I don't really hang out with my old friends anymore..." How many times are they going to have a girl break-up, only to have A tie them back together. When will they figure out they are stronger as a group? *shakes fist at make believe characters*
Overall thoughts: For fans of the Pretty Little Liars series, I think you'll be surprised to find some repetitive storylines, but pleased to find that Spencer, Aria, Hanna, and Emily are still up to their old habits. I like it best when the girls are working together to solve their issues, and I found that to be lacking in this book. Here's hoping that in the next book, our favorite little liars will bring their friendship back!

the first four books were extremly interesting and I thouroughly enjoyed them, but honestly now Sara Shepard is writting for money. the plot is going no where and honestly how many times can A die and come back. Complete Failure!!! Don't Waste your time or money!!

I was always a big fan of these books. Not the TV show but the actual books. So when I read Wanted I felt like everything had come full circle. So when I heard about Twisted I was very skeptical. I didn't read it until the beginning of this year. It was decent. I knew at this point Ms. Shepard was writing for money but the book still brought me in a kept me there to where I finished it within 5 hours. I was excited for Ruthless and went to it straight after.
To say I was disappointed is an understatement. Ruthless isn't nearly as good as the other books. Within the first three chapters this book felt forced. Like Ms. Shepard had no idea what she was doing. It became repetitive and I quickly grew tired of it. This book didn't hook me in and keep me there. There was no staying up late to read this book or ignoring dinner and phone calls to finish. I struggled to finish this book. Knowing my reward would be that my mom would buy me the first book of the Hunger Games. It took me two weeks to finish this and I fought through it because I felt bad that my mom spent 15.99 on the hardcover version and the least I could do was finish it. This book was just.....okay. Here I could truly see that Ms. Shepard was doing this for money. Twisted had me excited for the rest of the four books. Ruthless has me done with the series. I can't see this series getting any better. In my mind A was the real real Ali and she died in that fire. I can't continue the series after this without feeling like I'm forcing myself to try and enjoy it. I don't know MAYBE, emphasis on the maybe, when the next one comes out I'll sit in the store and read the first few chapter and if it still feels forced I will swear off the series for good. All I know is that even if I do continue, this is it. After these four books I will never enter the PLL world again. Even if she makes another four. My expectations of books have grown and with Ruthless I feel like Ms. Shepard is now below my average point.

In Pretty Little Liars, the next book is always better. Thus, I shall probably read Ruthless approximately twenty threee consecutive times. I read Twisted nine. I agree with thee person who said they were obsessed and it IS a drug. However, I beg to differ on the Bieber Fever part. December 6th is sooooooooooo far away!

Sara Shepard is complete genius. I adore this series and this book is amazing! So... Spencer has a guilty conscience about what she did to her friend over the summer, Aria's love life is forever changing, Emily thinks she found a new best friend, and Hanna is in love with the enemy.... I wish my life was this exciting! Oh yeah. I almost forgot... there's a psychotic stalker named "A" out to get them. But don't worry the figure out who it is...or do they??????

I loove pll but they have done really crazy things... also, the A identities are getting a little rediculous. Seriously. As much as i liked the book, she needs to chill it. 10 books? Really? It still hasnt ended? Cmon. I want the end to this... not the next book . . . Which is a winterbreak between books if im correct.

Awww. Poor little liars. Let's re-cap, shall we? Spencer was high on drugs all summer and sold out a 'friend'. Hasn't she learned from Macbeth? No one gets away with anything. At least while I'm around! Emily found a new friend to kiss, little did she know Kelsey was out for revenge. Hanna was kissing the enemy, then again, who isn't the enemy? Aria tried something new, and old. Then there was Tabitha. So she was in a mental hospital, doesn't that explain so much? Just wait. You have no idea what happens next. Good luck, your gonna need it!
Kisses!

This is an amazing series. I really lucked out when my best friend told me about the series and let me borrow her copy of the first book! The series never ceases to impress me and I love the plot. Although I think this series is amazing there are a few moments of repetativeness. I greatly enjoy this series and I recommend it to anyone in need of a new obsession. Word from the wise: avoid reading this book at night, I know all too well that you wont sleep too soundly...
