Dr. Shealy's quest for an answer to this question took him to the Philippines, where he and a team of experts watched psychic surgeons use only their hands to perform complex operations, and to the Ukraine, where he worked with physicians who had cured thousands of patients of everything from diabetes to cancer. In addition, Dr. Shealy tested the abilities of renowned sacred healers. In clinically controlled settings, he conducted a series of scientific trials using sophisticated medical equipment to measure the effects these healers had on patients - even at a distance. He also documented more than one hundred cases of terminally or chronically ill patients who were miraculously cured after modern Western medicine had given up on them.
