Sacred Symbols based on 0 ratings. 1 reviews.
This book is an interesting look at the iconography of the world, but that is all it is. The book is disappointing because the symbols examined are only half-examined. Comparative links are made to other cultures' use of symbols, but the symbols themselves are not thoroughly discussed. There is nothing said about how the symbols are viewed within their own cultures. All that is done is a tracing of the history of the particular symbols throughout the world, and not in the religions themselves. This is a shame, because the idea of the book is a very good one. Perhaps another book will be written that truly explores the natures of these symbols, instead of listing a few common links to other faiths.
