The sixth novel in Vachss's 'Burke' series is a mixed affair. Back in New York after the events of 'Blossom', Burke continues on his mission against child molestors/rapists leading him into a run-in with a voodoo priestess. A number of new characters are introduced and there are some revelations about old ones which makes 'Sacrifice' seem more of a transitional book, a set up of things to come. None of the Burke books are bad and the fan will be satisfied and intrigued enough at the end to want to read the next in the series. I'd put it firmly at 3 1/2 to 4 stars.
