“I invite you into the not-always-easy-but-always-fascinating life of Madison Knight, female detective extraordinaire. If you’re like me, you’ll be hooked from the very first page. Hold onto your seats, folks, you’re in for a wild ride.”

Finding justice comes at a high price…

When a young man washes up on the shore of the Bradshaw River, Detective Madison Knight and her partner are called in to investigate. But the case takes a complicated turn when he’s identified as the son of local business tycoon Marcus Randall. As one of the wealthiest and most influential men in the city, he has a lot of connections, and one of them just so happens to be the Stiles PD police chief.

Madison and Chief McAlexandar have butted heads before, but with this case, her drive and determination to find the truth just might cost her the job she worked so hard to get. She’s got her eye on Randall, despite the chief’s protests of the man’s innocence, and she’s not the only one. The Secret Service is after him for suspicion of fraud and counterfeiting, and they want Madison’s full cooperation to aid their investigation.

Stuck between the chief and one of the most powerful men in Stiles isn’t the ideal place to be, but if Madison’s going to find justice, she has no choice but to risk it all.

I was unable to finish the lat 50 pages of this book because of technical difficulties - unable to turn pages, only able to read 1-2 pages at a time before it would completely freeze up. It's not my Nook because I can read other books just fine. What I did read was okay but not great. I found the main character irritating and not particularly likeable. I got tired of the constant repetition and dwelling on the fact that the chief was impeding the investigation. I also found some of the police work totally unbelievable, like sitting on a supposed recording of the murder for days without listening to it. Not relevant to the story at all, but I really didn't like that the main character kept a large dog, and a breed known to be hyperactive, inside in a kennel all day long. That's just cruel. I suppose I might have rated this higher if I could have finished it, but based on the 170+ pages I did read, I don't recommend it. JB

Seriously??? I'm only on page 17 and I see "He rose his glass and took a swig." ROSE?? I hope the story is good enough to overcome mistakes like this. :-/

I struggled through 165 pages of this pitiful excuse of a novel. I decided it wasn't going to get better. Technical issues with page not turning, etc., helped me make the final decision to quit reading it. I suggest some of the good reviews posted for this book are fake! The only "Sacrifice" was rhe time I wasted trying to read it. Zero stars is my rating.

I'm a big Carolyn Arnold fan. In fact, I have just purchased her fourth Madison Knight novel. I love Madison Knight. She reminds me of a couple of females that I have in my family.
