This outstanding book is the story of one man's experience in the Korean War. While we here about the 'Greatest Generation' of WWII and the horrors of the Viet Nam war, most have only learned about the Korean through the movie and subsequent television series 'M*A*S*H'. This is a very open and honest memoir of one man's experience and the horrible wounds he suffered fighting what amounted to be no more than an earlier version of Viet Nam...political, useless and over 50,000 dead for no good reason. Somehow, Ray Colton manages to avoid any self-pity and whining, in spite of the suffering he and his comrades endured, and presents this book in a factual manner, while interspersing humor throughout the book. I could not put this book down from the first word to the last. This book is a must read for everybody so that finally, the great heroes of the Korean War, Ray Colton very much among them, receive the credit they so deserve. This is a wonderful book, written in a very humanly manner. I can't wait for the sequel..!!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Any child of a parent who served during this 'conflict' should read this book. If you're blessed enough to still have your parent upon God's green earth... give them a copy to read. I might suggest the LARGE PRINT, since my father has seen horrific life changing events unfold before his eyes in graphic detail in Korea. God bless and thank you my dearest loving father. I am grateful to the author who wrote from his heart and felt the tug in his heart to write this. My dad was in the 7th Division during 1951 & 1952, 32nd Infantry Regiment attached to the 7th Division. He went from Inchon to pork chop hill and heart break ridge. He was under Gen. Douglas MacAuthor for awhile. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
