Nerd Girl Offfical - Cassandra-Anne Delorie
I am truly at a loss for words, this book just hit home for me. I know the subject matter is a little hard to stomach; child abuse is a touchy topic for most, but the author writes in such a way that makes it hard to put the book down. Even as I was crying I kept telling myself that I had to finish this book, and I cried a lot.

I received a copy of this book and for some reason, I'm not entirely sure why, I put off reading it for a while. After having it sitting on my bookshelf for a couple weeks, silently taunting and begging me to read it, I finally gave in and started it late last night. I am now figuratively kicking myself for not reading it sooner. I could not put this book down!!!! In fact, I stayed up past 3 a.m. reading it. From page one all I could think was "Wow!". This is an INTENSE read. It will definitely make you feel something. Throughout the book I laughed, I shed a tear or two and I seriously wanted to punch someone...or maybe a few someones in the face. I loved Lola and Jack and the way they could just let go of their problems with each other. The way they interacted with each other and with others felt very real. I could almost imagine myself and people I know being in these same situations, having the same conversations. And the secondary characters....well, let me just say I think I'm a little in love with Sebastian. The only real issue I had with the book is that I felt the pace of it was too quick. I would have enjoyed more details, more scenes that showed certain relationships developing. But aside from that, I really enjoyed this book. and I'm hoping that Lindy Zart decides to tell more of the characters' story. I would definitely read a sequel.

What a beautiful, sad and amazing story. It made me cry and I still loved it. This is the first book I've read by this author, I actually won a free copy of this book. I can't wait to check out more of her work.

A solid 4.5 Stars Safe and Sound is the story of Lola, a teenager trapped in an abusive home with no one to turn to. Her mother, the one person who should be there to protect her, turns a blind eye to the abuse her daughter suffers at the hands of her husband. Feeling like she has no one left in the world, she meets Jack, someone who not only listens, but completely understands what she is going through. With the help of Jack, and some friends she thought she had lost forever, Lola fights her way through situations that would break down even the strongest person. This story will reach in your chest, rip out your heart, and stomp it to bits before shoving it back in your chest, so be warned. The characters are well developed and easy to build a connection with, even if at times you want to grab them by the throat and shake some sense into them. Safe and Sound is definitely one of those stories that will make you angry, upset, tearful, or just plain want to throw the book across the room. Mostly it is because the author manages to make you care about the characters so darn much that you can't stand to see them go through what happens and sometimes it is because hearing the name Lola one more time just makes you want to scream. The use of pronouns is limited and for me, was a distraction to the story. In another story, the constant use of the character's names, rather than 'he' or 'she' would have drove me mad. Safe and Sound was redeemed by the solid story and likable characters that draw you in deep.

This book was an emotional ride from start to finish! Lola is a teenage girl who is hiding from everyone emotionally and physically because of the hurts she has endured for the last year. The fear she lives with reaches through the page to the reader and shows just how frightened this young girl is everyday of her life. When Lola finally gets out of the horror her life has become the reader feels her joy. You will not want to put this book down! This was one of the most emotional books I have read in a long, long time. Do yourself a favor and grab a copy! Teresa Hughes, North Carolina

I really don't even know where to start! This book was incredible! I have never been in the situation Lola or Jack was in, but I could feel their pain like i experienced the same. It made me cry, which books don't often do. The last time was reading a Lurlene McDaniel book. I just love how it was written and with being a short book that says a lot. A lot of times in short books you don't get that raw emotion and the depth of the characters, and that is what makes a story fabulous. I couldn't put it down and really can't wait to read more from this author!

Lola's story is riveting. The physical and emotional abuse she endures is horrific and her salvation or safe place with Jack is truly touching. I read this book in one sitting because I just couldn't put it down. I would highly recommend this as a good read!! -melajarrells

This is the first book I read by Lindy. I can definitely say I will be reading more. She had me hooked on page 1. The main character, Lola, made me feel like I was reading my own story. I love that she had such strength and determination. The relationship she had with Jack was very uplifting. This book also showed a side of "younger" people we don't see every day. I definitely recommend this for anyone of any age. It shows strength, courage, and hope for all involved.

Having already read one of Lindy Zart's books, I had high expectations for this one.  Plus, I had heard only good things about.  I started it around lunch time, finished it around dinner.  It was THAT good. My one issue with it was with the lack of pronouns that could have replaced names.  ...which isn't a big issue at all. I loved the story.  Loved the characters.  Only cried THREE times!  *puffs out chest* This was an awesome book.  I recommend you read it immediately.

I loved it! It's definitely a book that if you can't relate directly you know someone that you can be there for! I cried...a lot. Some sad tears, some happy tears. Definitely a book that once you pick it up you won't want to put it down. :) If you haven't read it yet, you really need to get your hands on it NOW! If you have read, well, read it again!
