Jane Oliver has kept a low profile over the past two decades, but this live album, recorded in Boston in 2003, is evidence that her vast vocal talent remains intact. Always willing to give herself over completely to an audience, Oliver turns in a heartfelt performance, buffing signature songs and classic standards to a tee. Be it pop adaptations such as Neil Diamond’s “Brooklyn Roads" and John Denver’s “Annie’s Song,” Great American Songbook anthems including “How Are Things in Glocca Mora?” and “I Got the Sun in the Morning,” or more recent tunes that Oliver has made her own, this cult singer brings passion and artistry to everything she does. Jane Olivor is Timeless

For Jane Olivor fans, her new DVD "Safe Return" is a must-have. I had the pleasure of discovering Jane's incomparable voice for the first time in the 1970's at Avery Fisher Hall and have been hooked ever since. I was lucky enough to see Jane in concert on two more occasions, first at a small club in New Jersey and more recently at New York's Hunter College. Her long disappearance from the limelight was so disappointing, so I always returned to her previously released CD's to get my fill. I also developed a habit of checking the O's in the Easy Listening sections of most record stores. This persistent habit finally paid off. While walking through a Princeton, New Jersey record store, I suddenly discovered "Love Decides." Jane was back! A lost gem returned!! Jane's DVD "Safe Return" is a lovely walk down memory lane and every part of it confirms why I fell in love with her voice in the first place. Although she sings each song with such beauty and grace, my personal favorites are "Daydreams," "Run for the Roses," "Some Enchanted Evening", "The Right Garden" and "Stay the Night." Jane's "One More Ride on the Merry-Go-Round" has that Piaf touch with a Jane style that is unmatched. Jane sang that song so perfectly that it sent chills all through me. Overall, I'm so happy that Jane has returned, which is why the title of the DVD is so perfect. So, for anyone who wants a terrific experience and a beautiful musical journey, "Safe Return" is priceless. The DVD includes an "on-camera interview," which is an added bonus and a rare opportunity to learn more about Jane and her development into the singer than she is. She is candidly honest and forthcoming about her experiences and fans will love this special addition to Jane's first DVD. Jane, if you're reading this review, your voice is timeless and we welcome your return! Thank you for continuing to share your lovely voice with us. We love you!!!!
