Safety in the Sky

Safety in the Sky

by Nigel Hawkes

Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal - School Library Journal
A British import that provides an overview of air-safety issues, and that may serve as a first source. It should not, however, be considered a thorough examination of the subject. Short, two-page chapters include such topics as pilot training, air-traffic control, accidents, terrorism, and a brief chronology of air-safety history. The text mentions cities and airports in Great Britain without explaining where they are, and costs are sometimes given in British pounds. While the numerous, full-color photographs are of fairly good quality and include a number of airplanes after accidents have occurred, several others do little to explain or enhance the text. Not an essential purchase, but one that may be a useful addition for collections needing easy introductions to current issues. --Marilyn Long Graham, Jacksonville Public Libraries, FL
