VERY THOUGHT PROVOKING TOPIC, ENJOYED IMMENSELY

I just completed this book and read up on the author only to find a 19 year old girl. I am a recently published author as well but cannot say I gained the courage to write my story as young as this young lady. I commend her on her efforts and most especially on the subject. It seems in her youth she may have indeed witnessed some of the very real emotions chronicled in her book.

The subject matter is very near to my heart as I am a southern woman married to a Middle Eastern man for over 40 years now. I absolutely could relate to the story line and in fact witnessed the same types of reactions from my own people towards my husband and my own children over the years.

I was taught in my youth to appreciate humanity for their differences and to share myself with anyone who would allow it. Unfortunately sometimes the situations in my own life were at best unfortunate. I learned to persevere and continue forward.

I wish to extend my best wishes to this young writer and hope to see more of her work in the future. She seems to have a lot to say and I highly commend her talents.

    Ok

This book was not written in a very flowing manner and seemed disjointed and juvenile at times. Having said that, it was written by a teen and i would encourage her to continue working on her writing. Also work on editing.

    WOW!

This book is amazing and really has good life issues and Malia got through them. Malia is a girl of seventeen and a senior in high school. Read this book to find out what happens in her college years and what happens to her brother Sam and his friend Danny as they help their country after 9/11.

    AMAZING!

Beside some minor grammer errors, this book is very inspiring! I have a brother in the air force and my boyfriend is in the military. It really discusses the trials and tribulations of military families. As they say, "The only thing harder than being a soldier, is loving a soldier".

    Very good start

Jumps around a bit, but I assumed it was in character. 194 pages seemed a little in between a short story and a complete book. Characters needed more fleshing out, so it would have been a great novel. Title is a little misleading. She only mentions her "smile" in passing. Ending should have been more defined, but I will be looking for more from this young writer as she matures.

    you must read.

This young woman writes far beyond her age. If we all love and understood we are alike no matter what the outer shell.

    Good story line . . .

Too many flowery description, jumps around, so reader get lost, some mistakes.
    Author has potential.

    Not the best

This book needs editing. It truly has potential but it lacks in organization and cohesiveness. I do hope this young writer keeps working and in the future gives this book a rewrite.

    Wow

This was an amazing book. It needs a little editing in way of spelling and name mistakes, but it was an engrossing and inspiring story. Could not put it down. I reccomend to youth & adults.

    It was okay

The book was okay but it trailed off at some points and a lot of detail and sometimes just to much detail.......at points it was good and at points it was bad...but one thing if the book is more about malia and her sad life why is the title safiahs smile ?
