A high level perspective on the influence and affect St. Francis had on the catholic church and religion during and after his lifetime. I now believe that St. Francis' legacy is vastly misunderstood and inaccurate among the average individual. GK Chesterton explains in detail, the role and impact St. Francis had during a time of inconsistency within the church and spirituality in general. Very insightful and stimulating. Informative and enlightening.

I went looking through the bookstore for something new and unfamiliar to me- something enlightening and possibly inspirational. G.K Chesterton is a name I have come across in footnotes of other religious writers. St. Francis I have heard about having to do with love of animals. Also, one of the Catholic Churches in town is named after him. This was my familiarity with the author and subject. Somehow, the book ended up in my hands and I purchased it. I read it underlining parts and writing my thoughts in margins. I found it very interesting. I am not sure whether Francis of Assisi is anything more than a man but I believe he must have been a very remarkable man if Chesterton is accurate. I recommend this book to anyone interested. It is very readable and is easy to understand. I came away with an appreciation of man who totally submitted to the example of humility given by Jesus Christ. I will read more of G.K Chesterton's works.

I am catholic and i love learning about all of the different saints. I think this wpuld be a good book for people tht arent catholics to because saint francis is a good role model. If people see that he is a good role model then maybe tjey will become good or better people than they ard right now. I aldo love how he takes care of all the animals in Gods love. Like i said it is a good and amzing book and i hope u like it!

I read this book as I was hungry for knowledge about the life of St. Francis. I expected to read many detailed stories of events in his life. Instead the author prattled on about the character of St. Francis. I know he was a great man, he was canonized. I wish someone would tell me some events that made him great. This book was 199 pages and at page 154 I knew three brief stories about him. I learned more about the time period in which he lived. I could have learned more searching the Internet for stories about St. Francis. I was very disappointed and wish a review would have steered me away from this book. The author would have been better suited to say I know nothing factual about St. Francis because he lived so long ago, but here is what we can assume.
