Overview

Winner of the Florida Writer’s Association Royal Palm Award for Best Mystery.

Where’s Lorena Alger? This is what everyone in Ash Lake, Florida is asking about their most famous resident…a young girl about to be canonized as a saint, a young girl who hasn’t moved from her grave in over 150 years. Now she is gone, and her grave is now occupied by the fresher corpse of the cemetery caretaker.

Great grandniece Ronnie Lord is determined to aid the town sheriff in Lorena’s safe return. She finds it isn’t an easy task when obstacles like a nosy reporter and stubborn relatives get in the way. Meanwhile, as an object of ransom tucked away in a single-wide trailer belonging to two petty thieves, Lorena is in for the adventure of her…well, death.

This was a great book from beginning to end. My only complaint is the editing. In several places the wrong name was used. I think the problem may have been similarity in the names: Lew, Lorne, & Landon. If you can ignore those errors & allow common sense to tell you what name should have been used, you will really enjoy this book.

Too bad the author decided to make Ronnie such an ill tempered and impatient sort. This could have been a good read.

Interesting concept for a mystery! I enjoyed the story and learned a few things along the way. Just to note - some swearing but no sex. Thanks to the author for this!

I really liked this a lot! Lots of twist and turns, humor, and just a touch of romance. I also really enjoyed learning how sainthood is bestowed by the Vatican. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

This book is extremely intriguing and I really enjoyed the description of the community of Ash Lake Florida and the Catholic community in a small town - The intertwining of canonization & a murder mystery was also original- At times however, the story line was confusing and the descriptions were excessive!

Average mystery, average writing style, with a religious twist, but not "religious fiction". I thought it odd that some of the characters consider being Catholic "the dark side" and work to convert the Catholics to their form of Christianity. I'm Catholic and have never encountered that.
