This is a handy little book to provide an introduction to salamanders. While not as useful for the serious naturalist as a larger field guide, it is great for beginners. There is a lot of information for such a small book. I found it a helpful overview, even though I already know a lot about them. The photos are nice, and the price is reasonable. I haven't tried other books in this series, but after reading this one I may. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone interested in natural history, and especilly salamanders. Hopefully it will inspire future biologists to begin exploring the fascinating world of amphibians. And I hope Scholastic continues adding books to this Animals in Order Series.
