Salesmen & Racists [Explicit Lyrics]

All Music Guide - Michael Gallucci
Reilly's a singer/songwriter who likes to keep the surface of his songs light, even if the subjects -- racists, whores, and money-hungry folks -- often aren't. His jokey tone, as well as his drawling voice, belies the seriousness beneath the wise-guy façade. His debut album is filled with losers, dreamers, and the undistinguished guy in the corner of the bar, but they all have strong moral centers. Reilly's monster hooks draw you in; his sharply drawn character pieces keep you there.

    Record of the Year!

A brutally honest and real record. This puppy has nothing to hide and no excuses to make. If you like the Rock and Roll you will love Ike. Replacements, Dylan, Flaming Lips. This album has some of the most memorable choruses and challenging lyrics I've heard in a long time.

    Singer Songwriter talent

From songs of lust and love, failure, and freedom this cd is one of the most innovative sounds ive heard. From the first track till the last it seems like Ike Reilly is saying things no other artist has courage to state. Some songs are fun others just plain truth. I've been looking for a unique sound like this for a while and ive finally found it.

    (Finally) a Fresh Voice!

Ike Reilly combines an uncanny ear for the tender ironies in life with searing guitar work and fun twists in style and melody to create (at long last), a disk that is 100% fun from the first track to the last. ''Salesmen & Racists'' is proof positive that someone who's been around has a lot more to sing about than the panoply of ''boy/girl'' bands that proliferate. I have been listening to a 3-song sampler that I picked up at a live ''Ike'' show, and have been waiting for the full release like we Minnesotans wait for spring after winter. I am giddy that it's finally here!
