Perhaps the compilers at
Bar De Lune wanted to use the term "
salsa" liberally, because the album that they titled
Salsa Beats is certainly not limited to that one particular style. It starts out with cheesy, synth-and-Casio-beats
Latin pop, and toys around with
rock and
flamenco as well as the promised
salsa. None of the songs are that extraordinary, and the performers aren't clearly labeled, either, which means that the album should be passed up for something not only a bit more informative, but with better music as well. ~ Marisa Brown
