Tormented by the loss of Aria, Braith is forced to choose between his need to rescue her, and the impending rebel war he’s been chosen to lead. Fighting against the darkness which threatens to drag him into its tempting depths, Braith struggles not to become like the one thing he hates the most, his father.
Faced with their own separate challenges, Aria and Braith must come to terms with who they are, what they want, and the likelihood that they can never be together as the inevitable war looms on the horizon. A war that all of them will fight but not all of them will survive.

I was SO lucky to be able to get an ARC of this, and when I received it I automatically stopped my other read to start this one, and I was NOT Disappointed one bit! Only bad part was that this is the end, their will be no more Braith and Aria! I really would of liked maybe one more book to show how everything played out! Even though Erica did a wonderful job at bring this series to a close, I still would of liked to see the future of their world. YEAH ERICA, IT'S STILL NOT TO LATE TO CHANGE YOUR MIND...LOL! :) But I think the way Erica ended this series was PERFECT! It ended just the way I would of hoped, and I couldn't of asked for a better ending, to a PERFECT series! *Sniffle Sniffle* As always with Erica's books, the writing was amazing, BEYOND AMAZING, unlike anything I have ever read! She uses the best choice of words that fit perfectly with every scene, and I was swept away in this book! I cried more then I've EVER cried with this book! Maybe it was the intensity of the book, or maybe it was the undying love they had for each other, or the will to fight for their love and their people, or it could be that my time with this series was so fulfill and meaningful, and I knew it was coming to an end, and this was going to be the last book. But whatever it was, I was really an emotion wreck! You would think this was my life going on as much as I cried, laughed, moan, screamed, and hit things! But I was on an emotional roller coaster, (Still Am) But I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT! I just can't put in words how AMAZINGLY BRILLIANT this book, NO this series is! It's more then just a vampire book. More then just the battle of right and wrong, more then humans being tortured and violated, more the a thousand year old war brewing. No, it was something beyond that! This book shows people, that all is not as it seems, and just because the world is one way does not mean it can not be changed, and their can be forgiveness! In this book, I found that LOVE WILL CONQUER ALL! All you have to do is want it! And want it they did! Okay, okay, here's the Plot: After finishing the 3rd book in the series, and being left on that astonishing cliffhanger, I was holding my breath until I got back into this world. This book picks up where book three left off. With Aria being captured by the Kings soldiers and Braith ready to destroy everything in his path to get too Aria! Aria is all but shattered as she is taken to the Kings dungeon to await her fate from the King! She knows that whatever the King and Braith's sadistic brother Caleb has in store for her is going to be beyond any pain and torture she has ever endured! But she is determined to get through this, determined not to let them break her as they intended! But how can she remain optimistic when her days in captivity is filled with pain and torture, not only for self, but for her love ones and what they must be going through without her. Aria is getting weaker by the minute, and she's certain Braith will come for her, but when....? Braith is furious! He is beyond reason! He is determined to get Aria back and kill her Captures! He is ready to storm the castle and battle anyone in his way to Aria. But something inside Braith clicks, something he has never felt when it comes to Aria. He realizes that it's not just him and her anymore, though he would be glad to storm the castle and kill anyone in his path. But he knows he would ruin everything they were fighting for, everything Aria, and even he wants. A new way of life! A new beginning not only for them, but for his people he agreed to lead into war. For his followers that look to him as a leader. He can't let them down. He knows this is what Aria would want. So a new Braith is born the day she is captured. He will get her back he says, but first with thought and planning, and most defentely with the help from others! They will go into battle prepared to win and not fail, no matter the cost! Okay, I really don't want to give too much away, because you all would just hate me, and trust me when I say this, This is ONE book you want to experience for yourself with NO spoilers! Their was VERY intense fighting scenes, that ROCKED me to my very CORE! Erica is the best at her writing when she is writing very emotional scenes and battle scenes. All the fighting and battling for dominance was so engaging that I could not get it read fast enough! The way Erica did it, we got to see all the fights going on at once. Well not at once, but Erica would do a scenes from either Aria, Braith or Jack's point of view while they were battling at war. So we get to see the full wrath of this battle through different peoples eyes! I LOVED it! The war was probably my favorite part. Well not my favorite because their was soooooo much that I loved about this book and pretty much every scenes was my! I know my review is long and drawn out, but I'm just trying to give everyone a good picture of this book and what I felt while I was reading it. Not so much of the plot because that's something you should of experience yourself (especially this being the last in the series) but more of the world and the feelings to it. I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED this book, BUT if you haven't read the rest of the series yet then I suggest you read them first, So your able to get the full experience of this book! I can not stress how much I am saddened that their won't be another book in this series! :( BUT if it has to come to an end, then I'm happy with the way Erica ended it. I couldn't be anymore happier then I am with this book! Erica you have an AMAZING talent at writing, and you can draw readers in with only a couple sentences, that's all it took for me when I started reading the first book in this series! I will be reading more of Erica's books because I know anything she writes will be AMAZING! Thank you Erica for the AMAZING world in The Captive series, and for wonderful hours I found myself lost in your books, as they became an out when I need a break from reality. I will be sad to see it end, but hey you have so many other good books out their that I've yet to pick up, and I'm sure MANY MORE to come!

Anyway u need to started with book #1. Thats were the book pulls u in. I mean deep you'll find yourself fighting with the book geting emotionaly attached intill it steal your hart. The secound one gets better were now u know all the chareters and don't trust none of them. The last book has everything in it from love, hate, wars, tourtures and unexpecting twiested ending. A little sad at end because it's all over. These books are of a wounderful stores written well. Excelent . Great read for the summer.

The last book of this series was the best one yet, it was agonizing waiting for Braith and the others to forge ahead to the palace to take over and also rescue Arie. Then it switches to Arie and we experience what she is going through at the palace and my heart just breaks at how they are treating her. I thought I cried a lot in the last book, that was nothing compared to this one, I cried 90% of the time, whether it was happy, sad, or even tears from anger but this book was so full of varying emotions. Every time I tried to put  this book down I couldn’t stay away longer then 15 minutes I had to know what was going to happen. There were many surprises, there was sadness, there was loss, but the love between Braith and Arie never failed and it has always been the best part of all of these books. Throughout all of these books in this  series the author tells the story back and forth between Braith and Arie which I love because then we get  to see how they are both feelings about the same things at times. From chapter 8 to chapter 15 it is all  action, some inside the palace, some outside, at times was difficult to read because of the pain being  inflicted and at the end when the smoke all cleared it was revealed who had all been lost. The way Arie  was for awhile after that battle and how worthless Braith felt was heart wrenching. When the author finally  had Arie and Braith make that final bond between them it was beautiful and you could just feel how their  love just bloomed even more. I was so glad at how all of the vampires were treating Arie after the battle,  that they were willing to follow her as their Queen if she chose to take that position next to Braith. I was so surprised when Xavier was sharing the history of the area with Aria and William and when they asked what  the area where they were was once called he said Pennsylvania, I couldn’t believe it because this is where  I live lol. The surprise he shared with them also about their family tree was a shocker, I suspected something earlier but wasn’t quite sure what it would be, I knew right away what this meant and was  thrilled about what was going to happen next. The surprise Braith gives Aria and the discovery she finds up in the tree which leads her to a big decision was so great and I was crying so hard because I was so happy but once again Erica twist it around and has me crying sad tears a minute later because of this  decision Arie is then suffering greatly and the way Erica describes it you can feel her pain and the anguish  Braith is feeling watching her go through this. Then I think that I am close to being done with the book  and everything is looking and feeling great, I am so happy at how this story is going to end, then Erica  decides she can’t let well enough alone and throws another surprise in and has me sitting on the edge  of my seat ugh. In the end I did get what I wanted and I was reading the last words through my tear filled eyes. I loved this series and wish it was not over.  I am now going to read her other books; I am hooked on this author.

I was told of this book by a family member, who enjoyed it. I do read some YA, but not very much, but I thought for free why not try it, I was so surprised by this book, it has a romance theme going, and a little UF undertone to it!! The ending is a cliffhanger, but the whole series is out!! So i bought the rest of this series!! I just finished reading the series it is so amazing, I would recomend it to everyone!!!! Not just teenagers, i'm a middle aged adult here!!!! Great job Mrs, Stevens!!!

This whole series was great. The only real letdown was when Aria and Braith finally came together - the love "scene" was the worst and just a missed opportunity all the way around. It didn't even fit with the build up to it which was so much better. Still, I would recommend the series and hope the author pursues the other key characters like Jack, Max and Aria's brothers.
