Meet the Author

Annie Besant grew up reading everything she could get her grubby hands on. She was jealous of Alice for a long time till she discovered she too could shape words to take her into a rabbit hole. Since then she has been creating ink and paper worlds for children to discover. Her debut picture book Mala's Silver Anklets was released earlier this year.

Artist Andrea Nicole Burkom received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is the founder and former owner of a successful decorative painting company. Photos of Andrea's murals and decorative wall/furniture finishes have been widely publicized throughout her career. Andrea continues to create commissioned artwork and to offer interior design consultation. Andrea is excited to pursue a new "chapter" in her artistic career with the illustration of children's books. She resides in Baltimore, Maryland with her husband and two sons.
