Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Nicole Davis
Sammy is a little seashell who lives in the ocean. He is quite popular in his elementary school, until one day, he breaks his shell while he is rescuing his sister from a dangerous anchor. After that, his friends make fun of him and decide since he is different, they won't play with him. But when his teacher is trapped, and his broken shell helps her gain her freedom again, Sammy is once again a hero. The storyline in this book teaches a good lesson to young people about how anybody can do important and great things by being just the way they are. The storyline has a good moral that most children will be able to understand quickly. The last page has questions for parents and teachers to use to encourage discussion with young people. The graphics are done digitally, and lack the depth that can be found in other picture books. Reviewer: Nicole Davis
