Children's LiteratureI sure remember when I was old enough to get my library card. It was restricted to the kids' shelves, but still it was wonderful to select books and take them home. Sam is just as excited as I was and he selects a pile of books to take home. He reads and rereads them, but when his mom says that they have to go back to the library, he gets a bit upset. There are a few that he wants to read yet again. When they return the books, Sam hides three. Guilt overcomes him and he fesses up to his misdeed. That is when he learns about fines for overdue books and also that books can be taken out again. A straightforward introduction to the basic library processes and purpose. 2003, Grosset & Dunlap, Ages 4 to 6.
