If you need a book that will teach you about C++ without first requiring you to be a graduate computer nerd, this is it. Obviously written by someone who knows a bit about teaching psychology, examples are concrete, instruction is systematic and knowledge is built up logically. But this topic is no doddle: if you want to learn C++ you have to be prepared to put in the effort. And if you have to learn C++ in isolation, away from any supportive study group, you can do it with this book, and a lot of personal effort.

This is the same as the Sams Teach YourselfC++, with a little of the Linux toolsexplained. The intro to C++ is good and gotme on my feet with the subject. Days 22-26(extra) go into the Linux tools, but reallyjust shows that you need to get another bookto learn the subject. I did learn C++ fromthis book. If you got another Sams C++ in 21days book. don't bother with this one, it'sthe same stuff. I do recommend this book forlearning C++. Don't skim this book, you willbe in over your head before you know it!
