    Doesn't work perfect with iPad, iPhone, and Mac

    I downloaded this to all three devices and all the illustrations are grainy and unreadable using Nook as the eReader!!! It would be fine if they were just pictures but the illustrations have programming codes that you'll need to follow and understand. Called B&N technical support and they confirmed that some ebooks have grainy illustrations for these devices depending on how the publisher processed them. B&N just gave me the refund instead. I'm now going to check out Amazon. Hopefully it's not the same thing.

    Good Book for entry-level and mid-level.

    This book doesn't get as in-depth as some of the other books out there, but it does a great job of covering all the basics and giving you a great guideline to get started on just about any project (graphics and 3d games excluded) and how to use all the tools and UI features the iPhone SDK has to offer. Im hoping that once the iPad comes out, there'll be a book to go along with it as well. I'd recommend this to anybody who wants to get started with iPhone programming or who wants a quick reference to items. I'd always heard good things about the Sam's books and this is my first one. I'll be buying more down the road. A+

    A great starting point

    I am an Electrical Engineering student with tons of programming hours under my belt. Saying that, this book is a great starting point for anyone new to Objective-C and programming for the iPhone/iTouch platform. This book is not a bunch of code with complicated explanations like the majority of other books of this kind out there. What this books authors have successively done is write a book that actually teaches you the necessities of the code for each tutorial, in manageable chunks. Also, each tutorial is not just front end code, but the meat and potatoes of back end code. A lot of other books show you how to make a pretty screen, but forget to go through any usefulness of connecting that pretty screen to anything worth connecting to. This book, while the tutorials are not hard, actually shows you how to do, well, useful stuff. I only wish I would have found this book first.
