Their legendary prowess inspired some of Japan’s finest films and literature: years of training, discipline, and self-sacrifice, combined with advanced weaponry and unprecedented tactical acumen, created a force unmatched over centuries of history. This remarkable illustrated volume reveals the essence, truth, and wisdom of these unique warriors. Meet the most renowned of them, see their weapons, explore their military strategies, and even follow their daily lives. Above all, this sublime work illuminates the samurai’s unwavering Bushido philosophy—the strict code of honor that required absolute loyalty to their master above all else, and ritual suicide in preference to dying a dishonorable death.

    Great Book

The information in this book is well illustrated and easy to read. I have a shelf full of books on Samurai and Japanese martial arts. This is my favorite, second only to The Art of War.

    WARNING: Don't Waster Your Money

Most bargain books are great. This one was not. THe writing was as organized as a 4rth grade history paper. It meandered from topic to topic with very few interesting details. I have no comprehension why any one would consider it interesting. Except for the colorful illustrations, there is nothing to recommend this book. I am accustomed to reading some boring stuff and 99 out of 100 I always finish a book for discipline sake ... this was an exception ... I merely skimmed it and tossed it back on the shelf.
