Overview

This in-depth study of 2 Peter 1:3-7 shows us that even though the church takes a leadership role in discipleship, it is only Christ who imparts the divine nature that bears fruit in His disciples.

Knowing his death to be imminent, the apostle Peter was impressed by the Hold Spirit to leave a message to all believers concerning the essence of the new life Christ gives to us. Peter shows us that the qualities of this new life increasingly abound as we grow in the personal knowledge of Christ.

Sharing with us Peter's insights for developing strength and boldness, Robert Johnston leads us, in Sanctification, a New Beginning, a New Life, to the same spiritual highway traveled by the original disciples as they progressed from infancy to maturity in their walk with Christ.

Meet the Author

Robert Johnston has practiced as a Certified Public Accountant for more than forty years. In the midst of his career, at age 48, “all things became new.” While answering God’s call to attend Bible college, Johnston was asked to minister on several live programs and to provide accounting duties over a three year period for a Christian television station. After returning to his practice in accounting, Johnston made a commitment to operate his business according to the principles found in the Bible. Johnston conducts weekly Bible studies with businessmen in his community, and has written many articles as a result of his research of the scriptures in preparation for those studies, culminating in Sanctification, a New Beginning, a New Life. He is now retired and lives near Houston, Texas.

Steps on the Path to Santification

Steps on the Path to Sanctification "Sanctification" by Robert Johnston is a rich study based on a passage from I Peter chapter three verses one through seven. Johnston presents a broad definition of sanctification as the work of God's grace in man's perfection in righteousness as progressive beginning when he becomes a "partaker" of the divine nature. This progression takes the new believer on a spiritual journey with Jesus walking a path of sanctification from infancy through to maturity. Comparing scriptures from the Old and New Testament Johnston provides the reader with God's plan and expectations for the Christian to simply submit to the Holy Spirit's teaching of the scriptures from newness of life to completeness and perfection as mature believers being conformed to the image and character of Christ. An important feature of the book is a comprehensive appendix which includes a listing of over 100 conditional promises of God and a listing of more than 100 unconditional promises of God. Johnston's writing is personal, realistic, and Biblical. His writing is both sound and fervent. Johnston's book "Sanctification" clears up much of the mystery and confusion of an often overlooked important tenet of the Christian faith. As Reviwed for Midwest Book Review
