This collection of the Sandman Mystery Theatre comic keeps the brisk pacing, tight plot, and enriching character development of the earlier series. The crimes resulting in dreams that force the Sandman into action are still as macabre as could be hoped for, giving a real world horror tinged hue to the late thirties, when almost anyone remembers of the time is the glitz and glamor of Hollywood and the Flapper movement. Old faces return, new friends are found, and Hitler's march across continental Europe begins, a catalyst that results in life changing events for the two main characters, Wesley Dodds and Dian Belmont. Any fan of mystery, suspense, action, or crime stories should try the series.
